The cloud is no doubt the future, every tech company wants a piece of the pie. AWS is the market leader but google cloud engine and MS Azure are eating into their market share. AWS had to slash prices recently to continue being competitive. I hope we get more Nigerian cloud engineers as i'll be looking to engage their services in the near future

@dhtml you'll certainly be interested in the cloud health solution we are working on!

Jeffflo: @spikesC, even in the west, cloud computing is totally a new field, heralded though it was by virtualisation such that what obtained before isn't neccesarily applicable anymore smh.

Its a total paradigm shift that will displace those of us with long standing experience in IT (i have been a virtualistion and SEO specialist for 4 years now) for fresh blood armed with innovation in thier eyes and reams of certificates in their fists.

And i think its a good thing.

IT coys are rapidly going the way of trad companies, requiring years of experience. Its the next generation i want armed with skills comparable to their contemporaries elsewhere.

So yea, experience counts, if it in virtualistion, project management, storage. If not, it will be set aside in favour of dedicated vendor-specific cloud certs. Speaking of which, lets try to define cloud computing.

I admire guys like you who keep up with the latest trend in IT. I heralded this point and some guys went off point with it.

Just as you postulated, Cloud Computing is changing everything from Software to Web/Application development, from Networking to even shaping how Hardware is being designed. And this time is more critical to Server Administrators. Any traditional IT personnel who does not upgrade will be left behind for good cheesy

In fact, most of my IT resources are being shifted to the cloud. That way I can access and work with them from anywhere smiley

Welcome to the New IT. A Cloud Computing Expert in the making here cool

Re: A Thread For Nigerian Cloud Engineers - Prospective And Practising by Jeffflo: 10:52am On Aug 30, 2014
Gentlemen, i'm sorry about not posting since. I had/still have issues that ensured that i couldn't post via a laptop but only through my phone, and its incredibly tasking, for me at least, to type the type of lenghty articles that'd do justice to the topic via this particular phone.

So there, i'm sorry for the non-commercial interruption, but i'm back now.

Thank you.

You are not wrong. Cloud computing has been in existence for a long time. The term "cloud computing" is just repackaging and with more features and they made it better. Games like World of Warcraft are cloud based (as they call it now) but before it was just called online gaming.
