Not exactly sure why IBB considers it necessary to speak out now Is BigB1 right Does IBB still nurse Presidential ambition Time will tell . . . . . . . . this man has not spoken publicly for so long. To go to AIT himself for this interview is never for the sake of it. |

McKren: Your skepticicm on a possible repentance or genuine transformation on IBB's path while completely founded and understandable is nevertheless quite amusing to read. I guess that is a testament to the legacy such a person has left behind, a country of traumatised folks both home and abroad. News-IBB goes to church; respones-oh lord he's planning a coup . To be honest i really don't care much for wether IBB goes on live television to ask for repentance, as long as he doesn't seek power or public office under the current climate whereby PDP can easily rig anybody into power and have it still stand in the courts. A more daunting prospect when you consider the fact that the general in question did pick up a presidential ticket last elections. At least if there was an actual working democracy whereby votes counted then people like @McKren could be a bit more relaxed because then if IBB seeks the presidency again the Nigerian masses would then comfortably tell him where to go (hopefully). Enough of the continuous recycling of old leaders and arguably old trash, making a change does not have to mean running for presidency or more power. If he was so keen on 'making a change' then he could perhaps go into business or something, perhaps invest in a rail system or schemes that will alleviate the suffering which people could easily argue he had a hand in, basically do something more productive. However, given the past records of the individual in question it would be understandable if even the thought of him wielding power through business or 'helping' would still make people uneasy because of the power it might have or lack of a clearer definition of what kind of 'help' would be given out. So i am guessing the only available options for IBB with regards of ways to help the nation are just basically things like, picking up knitting or some hobby of the sort? That does not involve interferance with the national or state arena or government? LOL. |

I think IBB got this horrible identity all because he refused to say much when it could have counted positively for him. I believe he finally realized that you can never ignore the ignorance mentality that continues to linger around our society. Yes, the man was not a perfect president, but he is also not this bloodcurdling animal that few Nigerians have labelled him to be. IBB still represents one of a kind, who also happens to be blessed with natural wisdom. He knows how to get what he wants; and I'm sure that sooner or later, his damaged image would be rekindled. I'm still very comfortable to state that IBB would have been a perfect Nigerian president at this critical restitution period in Nigeria. He has the knowledge, the experience, the stamina, the enormous crave, the people and the respect to make great things happen effectively and efficiently in Nigeria today. |

Big B1:Seems u r definitely on crack or some cheap drugs. All countries are crying for change and you still think Nigeria's best choice is to continue with the old folks that almost ruined our nation. May God help you |
Re: Ibb: I’ll State How $12b Oil Windfall Was Spent by BigB11(m): 4:04pm On Oct 22, 2008 |
I remember growing up in the 80's, I remember shouting "UP NEPA", that was because it was not very common to not have light at the house. Sorry guy: IBB did not do this to Nigeria all by himself. This was done by everyone of us; and 90% of our problems will be solved as soon as we are sensible enough to recognize this fact. IBB has been gone for over 10 years, but Nigerians still can not get it right. It is clear, very clear indeed that our problem is bigger than IBB; IBB is only being used by Nigerians as a cushion (an easy justification) to make us feel good while the entire country continues to crumble. It is extremely despicable to blame IBB for all our shortcoming; infact some of us even hold IBB responsible if it doesn't rain in our villages. If moving forward is our main target, then we must immediately stop this ridiculous way of thinking. Together we need to identify our responsibilities and embrace them. Without doing this, Nigerians will continue to cry for another 48yrs. |

Seems u r definitely on crack or some cheap drugs. All countries are crying for change and you still think Nigeria's best choice is to continue with the old folks that almost ruined our nation. Yes, all countries are crying for change, but what you forgot is: all these countries do not have 140 million Nigerians as their citizens. In order for an effective change to take place, there are few steps that must be taken; I'm sorry these steps are still clearly missing in our society in Nigeria. We need a strong leader that has what it takes to make these steps possible to be taken. Again, Nigerians are the problems in Nigeria and absolutely not just IBB. |
Re: Ibb: I’ll State How $12b Oil Windfall Was Spent by SkyBlue1: 4:15pm On Oct 22, 2008 |
Big B1: Perhaps you should try to understand that by people quite understandably rejecting any role for IBB in the Nigerian national life is actually them being sensible and all those things you accuse them of not being in the first place. While it might be despicableto blame IBB for all shortcoming of Nigeria it will be equally despicable to downplay the role such a character played in events by relegating his role as "minor actions" or anything of the sort, sorry but i feel not only despicable but also insensitive. IBB might not be the whole problem with Nigeria but he was definately one of them. As long as he remains a was some people might not mind. Again no offence intended but your post seems to be a contradiction in themselves, you urge Nigerians to move forward and grow up and then state that the way forward is a past leader who showed himself to be less of a gentleman than was thought; to put it lightly? I really don't think Nigerians want IBB anymore, can't some people just live with that? Out of the 140million plus people in Nigeria we are so short on capable leaders that we have to recycle old news? |

Out of the 140million plus people in Nigeria we are so short on capable leaders that we have to recycle old news?Great conclusion. I've looked and looked; and I find it very difficult to identify a single entity that has the enormous capability to effectively and efficiently lead this corrupt and uncivilized land. Sometimes, it takes a crazyman to effectively deal with crazy people; it is that simple! |

Big B1: LOL, this is becoming a tad futile. I don't even have to make suggestions because there are so many threads that have done thesame. Some might say Pat Utomi, some Fashola, some Iweala, some say Donald Duke; Nigeria has a strong Professorship base many of which i think would do a good job, well known public speakers, etc. I mean, i will even take Buhari the alleged sharia lover any day over IBB, at least we might get some discipline. While i cannot personally vouch for any of these i just find your persistence on IBB being the salvation of Nigeria's future incomprehensible. So because you cannot think of any off the top of your head means they don't exist and hence Nigeria should revert back to a leader that its citizens detest? This is almost getting amusing, i mean, na by force? Enough of the old blood and recycling, get someone who has not actually had such a huge hand to play in the present situation and someone who has not been president before, is that so incomprehensible. |

LOL, this is becoming a tad futile. I don't even have to make suggestions because there are so many threads that have done thesame. Some might say Pat Utomi, some Fashola, some Iweala, some say Donald Duke;OK If you know one or two things about Nigerian politics, you will realize that these listed names are products of defective system. 95% of the time, with time these entities would repeat the past failure. Moreover, I do not think that any of the listed entities has the stamina and the capability to vigorously go against the odds (who are mostly invisible); trust me. Please, keep in mind that Nigeria is not UK or USA; it makes me sick when folks try to view things in Nigeria using UK or USA state of mind. This is totally different animal; and a special or unique approach must be taken to restore things back to normal in Nigeria. I still feel very comfortable to pick IBB as the perfect leader at this time in Nigeria. He has a lot to lose if things fall apart once again. |

Big B1: So the hope of the nation should ride on a retired general's urge to seek redemption in the eyes of the people? All sounds very self indulgent and selfish to be honest. How do you actually know it won't be worse and what would he be able to actually offer that many other people who might not even be in public life won't be able to? Just because he is IBB? He has a lot to lose? Like what? Won't his existing riches still be waiting for him if he does not even use the opportunity to get richer? I assumed you couldn't have been talking about him losing his non-existent respect in Nigeria, right? Nigeria is not all about IBB and how he feels or if he feels remorse, using that as an excuse as to why you feel 'he would be good this time around' is something i find amusing. Please, Nigeria is not all about IBB or stopping all cars moving in a city so that he can cross the street. |

The game is on; IBB has been gone for over 10 years and I ask your people this question: What have you done for us lately? @ Skyblue: you can answer that question if you know the answer. With time, I think it would become clearer to all why IBB would have been a perfect entity to correct what is wrong with our lovely nation. We shall see! |
Re: Ibb: I’ll State How $12b Oil Windfall Was Spent by SkyBlue1: 8:38pm On Oct 22, 2008 |
Big B1: LOL, i really am not breaking sweat or raising my blood pressure over IBB; trust me. There are other things i deem more worthy of that, sorry . I still think that using the old "what have you done lately" is dodgning the real question on this thread which is, what did IBB do for the country when he had the chance? What makes him worthy of that opportunity again when considering the nation really doesn't need or want his help considering people aren't even sure of the kind of "help" he has to offer seeing that he has "helped" before. Do you think we should continue depriving other people of the chance to "help" as well? Is IBB the only man in a country of over 140million that can provide this "help"? If he isn't then why one earth given the fact that he has led before and was considered by many a disaster do you still want this IBB's special brand of "help"? I believe everyone has the chance to make a difference in their own way and that one man can change the world. However when you consider the fact that not everyone is president of a nation everyday and given the opportunity to achieve this with less strife, then your point just makes one wonder what exactly you are getting at if it is not just dodgning the issue. What does "what i have done for the nation lately" make IBB the right man for Nigeria at this time? Still trying to find the connection. Does it make him less of a planet sized risk that is completely unecessary? Without your full disclosure on some personal information you might be privy to which everyone else does not have that makes you think IBB is THE right man you might just have to accept that peopledon't see thesame. |

@Mr.Blue: I will rest my case as soon as you're able to identify a single Fed Government accomplishment in Nigeria between 1993 and 2008. Do you know how much money our Nation made and how much money the elected/ government officials (new, young and educated leaders) stole between or during those years (1993-2008)? Do you know how many young Nigerians in their late 20s that are ready/waiting to go into politics only to steal? Do you know how much money is being siphoned directly from the Nigerian public treasury on a daily bases? Again, it's been over 10 years and your people still find it impossible to get it right. |

Again, IBB got this horrible identity all because he was too quiet for too Long, and I think he deserves to be heard. I honestly think he has finally realized that one can never ignore the ignorance mentality in our society; regardless of the outcome, you must come out, reveal and stand by your story. I think he's determined to do just this, and he has the rights to do so. Instead of crying and making annoying noise, why not ask the man to go ahead and present exactly how he spent the $12b oil windfall? The man is not a dummy; I can assure you that he's ready! |

Re: Ibb: I’ll State How $12b Oil Windfall Was Spent by SkyBlue1: 3:11pm On Oct 23, 2008 |
Big B1: Mr BigB1 i hope you don't take offence at this but you are yet to actually link your reasons to a feasible conclusion as to why IBB is the only person out of a country of over 140million who is capable of leading the country after he left it in the state it was. Your continuous dodging of this issue simply does not make it invalid. So you are saying what? That if i can't name a single federal government project since the era i assume you refer to, that validates IBB? Why don't you add this to a list of questions you are yet to answer - how many genuine leaders have been voted into power since the era in question if ever through a fair election? It is like saying IBB is validated because Abacha was bad. I am really trying to connect the dots of your arguement but to no avail. Perhaps you might want to enlighten us or is this just futile? |

I honestly just wont join this debate because most Nigerians already have an opinion of IBB. IBB has every right to continue fantasizing that he will be President, I hope he does contest and spread some money arround again . . . . . . |
