Olumide Edwards Adegbolu aka Olu Maintain is a Nigerian Afro hip-hop musician. His father (medical doctor with the Nigerian army) plays the guitar and his parents also encouraged him to take up music. He liked to mimic the songs of Bobby Brown and M.C. Hammer.

Olu thinks his musical background is not conventional because while growing up, he listened to a lot of James Brown, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. However, he liked to acquire knowledge by listening to all kinds of music like R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul etc. He is a fast learner and he strongly believe that the day one stops learning is the day one starts dying. So whenever he listens to music, he doesn’t listen with my ears alone, but his head, so that he can absorb and digest it.

Later, things changed into rap in 1991/92 with the influence of groups such as Black Mode, Free Sneakings, Sypro Seal. Generally, from writing and singing their lyrics, he began to compose songs and record demos.Olu began his musical career with the defunct group, Maintain, the Afro hip-hop. After reading Accounting, at The Polytechnic, Ibadan and he got the backing of his father.

His first demo was done in 1992. He was a member of the hip-hop trio called Maintain (Olu, Tolu his first cousine and Bamo) which had hits like I Catch Cold and Ni Bo La Wa Gbe Lo. After six albums between 1998 and 2004, he split from the group in 2005.

Later, he came out with his own album Yahoozee which was recorded in September 2007 but officially released May 17, 2007 and was produced and directed by Puffy T.

Olu is doing real well now as the million of dollars and hummer Jeep he mentioned in the song"Yahoozee is now a reality, He's also set to move into his own house very soon.

Olu Maintain who has high expectations from next album and believe God has given him the gift to connect with the people and to be able to predict to a large extent, what might likely come after. So with this, he believes he will countinue to produce more hits.
