Osun Declares Public Holiday- Isese Day


The State of Osun in honour of this year’s Isese Day declared today Wednesday 20th of August, 2014 a public holiday.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Sunday Akere, said that the day had been declared by the United Nations (UN) as the “Day for Indigenous Religions” globally. He also said: “Traditional religion worshippers usually set aside the week running to August 20th every year for celebrating with their own adherents while the day usually witness parades, lectures and display of other traditional apparels to attract tourists from other parts of the world.”

The Commissioner also said that since last year, it has been a major part of the effort of the Governor Aregbesola’s administration to make certain religions equality.
