Protesting Youth Boo Senator Over Non-performance. by siraj1402(m): 7:31pm On Sep 04, 2014
The Re-election bid of Senator Smart Adeyemi Wednesday suffered set back as hundreds of youths took to the streets in Kabba against the senator's come back bid.  The protest in Kabba, Headquarters of a local government in kogi state started at a function attended by the state Governor Idris Wada, and many other dignitaries from the state.

Senator Adeyemi, who was among the dignitaries that attended the event, was booed immediately his presence was announced to the crowd.

The youths were irked because his tenure as a senator has not benefitted the youths according to their leader, the senatorial district is in a deplorable state.

The youths unanimously chorused ole! Ole!! Ole!!! and called Adeyemi some unprintable names while the booing lasted.

As if that was not enough, one of the youths even jumped into the VIP area, where Adeyemi was seated with other dignitaries and rained curses on him. Adeyemi, who was openly humiliated by  the surging crowd escaped from the scene under heavy security.

The state governor, Captain Idris Wada who was the Special Guest at the arena appealed to electorates to show their dislike for particular political office holders through democratic means rather than engage in name callings.

He stated that the “Uncivilised behavior is not expected of Kabba-Bunu people  and it must be avoided.

It took the timely intervention of the immediate past Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Matthew Ajibero to pacify the aggrieved youth.

As the ugly scene continued, Per Second News sampled the opinion of the angry youths. One of them, Segun Ola, said the senator should be ashamed of himself, “because he has not helped the community".

Tajudeen Yusuf,  a member House of Representatives representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency who was alleged to be the brain behind the crisis because of  his second term ambition appeared to have gotten the recipe for the row and was able to calm the situation.

Though, the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the area, Elder Adebayo Toluhi condemned the act of the youth against the embattled Senator, but how ever advised the senator to forget the 2015 election in the interest peace, Equity and Justice.

Senator Adeyemi, represents Kogi West senatorial district.
