Eagles risk disqualification if any member of the Nigerian team comes out with unacceptable gear in today’s Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Congo.

Nigeria, the defending African champion, takes on Congo in Calabar, in one of the AFCON qualifiers with Nigeria’s midfielder, Mikel Obi, expected to appear with protective gears against the Ebola virus ravaging the West Africa sub-region.

English Premiership sides, Chelsea and Manchester City provided both Mikel and African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure kits expected to protect them from infection of Ebola for the Afcon qualifiers. Yaya Toure stars for The Ivory Coast against Sierra Leone.

However, FIFA warned that while both Nigeria and Ivorian federations have the right to protect their players, they could be turned down by match officials if they fail to comply with the  dressing code.

“FIFA only permits players  to wear a cap that covers their head to the hairline, but does not extend below the ears to cover the neck,” FIFA said in an e-mail.

“ We don’t condone an infringement of the Laws of the Game.

“The match commissioner and match referee for the Afcon qualifiers will apply correctly the Laws of the game,’’ FIFA added.
