A governorship aspirant in Lagos State, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday declared that the party is poised to provide the country with leadership that challenges the status quo and bring about rapid development to everybody irrespective of ethnic background.

Ambode made the declaration at the inauguration of his campaign office in Gbagbada and the 57 committees tagged: “Akinwumi Ambode Campaign Organisation (AAMCO)” that would run his campaign in all the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas (LCDA) making up the state.

The APC governorship aspirant, who addressed a large crowd of party supporters and chieftains, including a member of House of Representatives, Honourable James Faleke, Honourable Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Hakeem, Chief Tayo Oyemade, Honourable Bola Lawal Olumegbon, among others, said the message the party faithful should take round now was that salvation of the country lied with the APC and should, therefore, be voted in office at the states and the federal levels come 2015.

Ambode, who expressed appreciation for the support he had enjoyed since January when he first expressed his intention, particularly charged the campaign committees to go to towns, villages and hamlets in all the 377 wards in the state to sell his governorship aspiration on the party platform and equally convince Lagosians to buy into it.

The former accountant-general insisted that he was not going to engage anybody in a fight or quarrel to win the 2015, saying that his major concern was to focus and achieve continuity in development of the state, from where Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola would stop.

This is as he paid great tribute to the national leader of APC, Senator Bola Tinubu, who he described as a pathfinder and navigator.

He assured that the party’s concern still remained the care of the citizenry, including the market women, children, the elderly, workers, traders, among others.

In his goodwill message, a member of House of Representatives, Honourable Faleke described Ambode as a good politician and a team player, as well as a humble person, who he said God had lifted up to become a governorship aspirant on the APC platform.

Faleke, who insisted that he had the right to support any candidate of his choice, promised to deliver Ikeja and Ojodu votes for Ambode in the forthcoming election, adding: “My own is to support him to win Ojodu and Ikeja, his own is to develop Lagos, that is what he owes us.”

The lawmaker, however, tasked those who he said were engaged in campaign of calumny within the party to stop it, saying that the progress and victory of Lagos APC in 2015 was essential.

Also speaking, a former member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Abdul- Lateef, who is also the Chief Imam of Lagos Assembly, promised to mobilse all Lagos Muslims and clerics to vote Ambode in 2015 poll.

The former lawmaker, who debunked the allegation that APC is a Muslim party, said that the support currently being enjoyed by Ambode as an aspirant, was a testimony of a peaceful coexistence among religious adherents in the state.
