Why Is It Easier To Condemn Than To Commend A Person? by nationwide24: 5:54pm On Sep 09, 2014 |
In my opinion, it takes a heart of gold to sincerely praise someone when he has done well without expecting any benefits. As much as I have observed, humans perhaps Nigerians quickly condemn a person at the slightest provocation so that whatever good the offender had done in the past gets obliterated. Whether it is caused by hasty generalization or prejudice remains puzzling. Here are few examples : 1. President making a speech and says something unprofessional, he would be hung alive by the people no matter the number of good statements he made in the same speech. 2. Boyfriends /girlfriends who flare-up in rage when the significant other offends forgetting how loving the offender has been. 3. Condemning a whole tribe /ethnic group because one person from that tribe / ethnic group has committed a crime. The list is endless. You can add yours. |

It is because it's easier for people to find fault in the other person than in themselves. Some people find solace in making others feel bad because deep within them, they are battling with insecurities. They think, 'Why should he feel that he is better than me?' And so when asked on their opinion about the person, they take it as an opportunity to prove how inadequate the person is. I'm really trying hard not to use the word jealousy but oops, there you have it. But not all criticisms are out of jealousy. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
