FG Staff In A’ibom Cry Out Over Unpaid Salaries by mistudreh(m): 2:08am On Sep 10, 2014
Uyo—STAFF of federal establishments in Akwa Ibom State
have lamented the non-payment of their salaries, following
alleged system failure of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.
The development was said to have led to over-payment
and short-payment of some staff for upwards of three
months from January 2012.
The affected staff told newsmen in Uyo, yesterday said that
they were surprised they were yet to be paid the omitted
salaries, even though the office of the Accountant General
of the Federation, had assured them the lapses would be
rectified before May 2012.
The workers noted that with the proposed merger of
agencies, it will be more difficult for the salaries to be paid,
adding that they fear that they could lose their salaries to
another scam akin to the infamous pension scam if nothing
was done immediately to address the issue.
One of the workers, who spoke on the ground of
anonymity, said they were given the assurance that the
unpaid salaries would be included in the 2013 budget,
lamenting that nothing had been done since then. He
appealed to relevant offices to look into their plight.
