The controversy over alleged sponsors of Boko
Haram took a twist yesterday when Nobel Laureate
Wole Soyinka said information about a suspected
financier of the terror group within the Central Bank
of Nigeria (CBN) was passed to President Goodluck
Jonathan.
Soyinka also said he worked “in the background”
with Australian negotiator Stephen Davis during the
Niger Delta militancy crisis, and warned against
dismissing his claims on those allegedly
sponsoring Boko Haram.
The Nobel Laureate spoke on a day a source
familiar with Boko Haram revealed that some of
the school girls captured by the Islamist group in
Chibok, Borno State, in April, might have been
raped to death.
In a statement by Soyinka titled, The wages of
impunity, he was appalled by government’s
treatment of people linked with the Islamist group
with kid gloves.
Soyinka said: “Finally, Stephen Davis also
mentioned a Boko Haram financier within the
Nigerian Central Bank. Independently we are able
to give backing to that claim, even to the extent of
naming the individual. In the process of our
enquiries, we solicited the help of a foreign
embassy whose government, we learnt, was
actually on the same trail, thanks to its
independent investigation into some money
laundering that involved the Central Bank.
“That name, we confidently learnt, has also been
passed on to President Jonathan. When he is
ready to abandon his accommodating policy
towards the implicated, even the criminalized, an
attitude that owes so much to re-election
desperation, when he moves from a passive
`letting the law to take its course’ to galvanizing
the law to take its course, we shall gladly supply
that name”.

Soyinka is just an attention seeker who likes to make himself heard when issues are already making waves. Since he knew all these things why did he have to wait for Davies to talk before coming out, he couldn't even name the CBN official that Davis refused to name.
Sometimes I wonder what this man has contributed to Nigeria other than talking, talking and talking. When he was given a position were he actually had to do something, he failed woefully.

If he had gone public with the name, is people like you that would have called him names. Now, since those names were submitted to the presidency, what stops them from following it up and prosecute the offenders. And when exactly has Soyinka turn Chief prosecutor.

Absolutely. The Australian was actually refering to an official in the CBN who is currently serving but unfortunately, bigots who will want to see SLS roped will always make something out of nothing. The suspecion now is whether Sanusi was removed after he discovered that the missing money was allegedly used for other purpose outside of what it was meant for. But i believe that, with time the equation will begin to add up as to who is actually financing the rag tags and arming them.

Why is the Prof buying this junk gossip by Dr Steven Davis?.

I have taken time to critically analyse the content of Dr Davis message and after dissecting and experimenting on the logical components of his exertions. I can confidently infer that he just reproduced Nigerians public opinions without added intelligence hence nobody should take Dr Davis so-called revelations seriously.
