[size=14pt] In so many developed and even developing countries and territories, there are lanes for pedestrians, lanes for bicycles, others for motorcycles, tricycles and another for other types of vehicles like cars, buses, trucks etc, but do you know that there's a place in China that boasts a different type of lane altogether ? Probably, you never knew before. This city has a lane for Smartphone addicts i.e. those that have their (e)y(e)s glued to their Smartphone's screen always, yes, i mean always. According to QQ.com, the cellphone lane at the bottom was spotted in a place called Foreigner Street in Chongqing city, one of the five major cities in China. The sidewalk was most likely painted for everyone's safety, because, if there's distracted driving, there's also distracted walking, as perfectly demonstrated by the woman in the video below. http://www.stevenbergy.com.ng/2014/09/smartphone-addicts-now-have-their-own.html Engadget also made mention of an experiment that the National Geographic performed earlier this year, in July to be precise. The society stenciled "NO CELLPHONES" on one-half of a DC sidewalk and "CELLPHONES: WALK IN THIS LANE AT YOUR OWN RISK" on the other half. So, what's the result ? National Geographic found out that the people actually glued to their phones didn't even notice the markings at all. Isn't it hilarious ? Extremely... Even though there is a city that has a sidewalk lane for phone addicts in China, there are still thousands of cities that doesn't have, so please be very careful where you use your phone. Don't chat, text or use your phone without paying attention when on the main road. We can only enjoy our smartphones when we are safe and in good health. Talk of Urban Security Plan. Same thing in Britain. In order to provide more protection to cellphone users, the authorities wrapt cushions around poles on side walks. The aim is to serve as a protective gear and prevent mild accidents to phone users in case they bump on them while texting. 16 Likes |

Try it in Nigeria and watch our impatient bus drivers crush you to death. Imagine what is happening on the BRT lane. In fact, the only lane am yet to see our bus drivers is the pedestrian bridge. I won't be surprised to see them there tomorrow 161 Likes 15 Shares |

Good development! I see young girls dashing across the road with their eyes glued to their phones. Government is supposed to represent/carry everyone along in their policies. The physically challenged are still battling to cope in this country due to lack of friendly facilities and structures. 9 Likes |

deeobserver209: Talk of Urban Security Plan. But really, they are enjoying the good advantages of good government. As far as am concerned, it's not something the government must help with. Every cellphone user should know how, when and where to use his or her phone. But they have good government sha. is it in Nigeria they will construct a special road for addicted smartphone users, when we don't even have enough highways, when our girls are missing everyday, when we're being bombed everyday, when we have to use a scientific calculator before buying a month data plan ? 9 Likes |

I won't be surprised to see them there tomorrow Yes, you're right but If we have a lane like that, and strict security measure is being taken, they wouldn't trespass but almost everything is impossible in Nigeria. Even the simplest ones... 2 Likes |

There's no need for this in Nigeria. By the time one bike man snatch your phone from your hand, the next time nobody would tell you to put your phone in your pocket while walking on the road 16 Likes |

This kain thing no fit ever work for my beloved country. It'd turn extra lane for danfo drivers, okada riders, bend and select night traders, baba ijebu spot.. name it! On my own part, I really don't find it necessary. Why not wait to one gets home or his office and conveniently resume that chat. "BrB" no dey kill person.. 11 Likes |
