American Styled Electrical Distribution Can Be Our Solution by Ikengawo: 7:29pm On Sep 14, 2014 |
In America, except in a few very small towns, electrical companies COMPETE with each other for customers. The city of Dallas can have up to 12 different distribution companies where as in the entire SW region there is just 1 disco and so forth (which is an improvement from before when only 1 company ran the whole Nigeria of 170 million people) Each company produces it's own electricity, and people can chose to pay that company's rate to be with that company. If you have one that has power outages, then people will flee and go to one that works. In the end the ones that provide the best service survive and the rolling blackout ones die off. The competition forces them to be better. The service is better, there's no such a thing as black out now, and so forth because all companies are trying their hardest to be the best. So if I take a bungalow and fill it with 40 diesel generators, I can have my own power company, and people can pay me to provide them with power. They will pay me monthly and as more people demand to use my power, I expand. IF it's legally possible to do this in Nigeria I will consider it as a business venture, otherwise I would like to see the government consider this because it will solve the power situation in the span of less than 5 years. |

OP, you relax in America where things work and keep creating your Pro-PDP articles like everything is working well in Nigeria. I spend money everyday for P.M.S for work and home. Meanwhile, you are in a country where things work and you have the guts to insult us with your constants phoolish articles against APC like they are the ones responsible for the epileptic power supply. God will definitely judge you. 2 Likes |

@OP How do you solve the problem of transmission and distribution? Will each power company have their own separate transmission and distribution lines? How about termination at the premises? I would like to know how you'll tackle some of these challenges. |

OP, not true. California has just one power company with the government somewhat regulating the tariff. |

You supported PDP under Amaechi for 6yrs until he lost favour with the Presidency when GEJ openly declared him inconsequential at PDP National Retreat Calabar two years ago. I feel sorry when these former PDPians bad mouth their former Lordship. Are just realising the Devil in PDP or what exactly? Sorry you and Amaechi are infested and consequently a carrier of their virus |

Ikengawo: In America, except in a few very small towns, electrical companies COMPETE with each other for customers. And you think you thought up this "genius" idea yourself or that the Govt doesn't know this is what it needs to do? Fact remains if corruption is not killed nothing improves... just like the shitty telecommunications industry in Nigeria. |

ISpiksDaTroof: Its absolutely impossible that A state as big as Cali will have only one power company. Why don't you get some free education via Google search instead of embarrassing yourself that something is "absolutely impossible" before you have found out first ISpiksDaTroof: And you think you thought up this "genius" idea yourself or that the Govt doesn't know this is what it needs to do? You really need to have a reset of your brain, seriously. Was the telecommunications industry better when your blood-thirsty hero was Supreme Military Commander of the country (1983-1985) under his supposedly CORRUPT-less regime Is there no corruption in America yet their economy thrives so much that Nigerians are queuing up to go there even if na to dey helep dem sweep dem streets and clear dem gutters |

All the do here is collect Monthly Charges, send estimates to those that do not have pre-paid and then serve us darkness. corruption is a problem but our major problem is we make too small money for our massive population. a country like Nigeria requires a sustainable investment of more than 20billion a year in power alone. where is that money going to come from? 1 Like |

ISpiksDaTroof: And you think you thought up this "genius" idea yourself or that the Govt doesn't know this is what it needs to do? Telecommunication is not shity dude....if you remember our position some 14years ago where we have tele density of less than 1million telephones line. 1999 statistic compare to 2014 tele density : 500k tely lines/ over 100million lines internet access : less than 50k internet users/more than 50 million internet users 1 Like |

abdulwastecx: corruption is a problem but our major problem is we make too small money for our massive population. @Bold: The problem is NOT that we make small money, but that it is stolen. Why we remain the way we are is that what we have has been stolen. For those who may still be patriotic and afraid, hear Jonathan give them assurance - "Stealing Is Not Corruption" - It sounds like fiction right? |
