Does it really surprise anyone that the major news broadcasters (TV and newspapers) are not too keen on reporting on these issues?
They are supposed to channel the voice of the people. It won't help much that the only people speaking out are doing so online. If vanguard newspaper and the rest of them can be persuaded to take their eyes off most of the irrelevant news they constantly report, maybe just maybe they will find some space on their pages to channel the displeasure of Nigerians about the dangerous pattern this government is beginning to set. |

and its this same country some dudes here think its worth risking everything for, a country that just does not value its citizens, a country that does not understand what democracy is, a country that seems not to know the meaning of "freedom of speech". I seem not to understand where real revolution will or should start from. GOD bless NIGERIA |

If only these news sources could infiltrate the Nigerian populace, hopefully that would make a difference? NTA is such a farce, the last time i went through the effort of finding it to watch the 9 o' clock news segment, with everything going on in the country i felt ill at what the focus of the reports were? "The first lady gets given prize for bringing attention to cancer" or something of that sort. Meanwhile, there was a constituional review going on, a still non-active government that is being criticised of such everyday, should one continue? And that was the main headline? The worse thing that can happen is every news source or outlet turning into the joke that is 'Nigerian News stations'. The ones were the reporters don't grill anybody or speak as if to make sure that the politicians or people being questioned don't get any reasonable questions with regards to what is actually happening in the nation. "How is the wife and family?" is a question i won't be surprised being asked of Osama Bin Laden if he was captured today by an grilled by an NTA news anchor. Am i being too hard on NTA? |

There you people go again, picking you battles with sensationalism in mind. There are people who have been rotting in Kirikiri on suspicion of stealing a chicken for 5 years without trial. People in jail for 2 years after being picked up for 'wandering'. There is the sad case of the gardener who was picked up because he was carrying a machete and therefore had to be an OPC member. People on death row for 10 years.
If you must spare sympathy for this rascal, at least stop being selective and go the whole nine yards instead of following the typical Nigerian ethos of gravitating towards the most high profile cases. |

i live outside nigeria and since i relocated about 6 years ago, i've made it a point of duty to visit naija at least once every year for the sake of patriotism and to keep in touch with happenings. But every year after my visit, that patriotism keeps diminishing in exponential proportions. In the first place it took me forever to decide to leave naija in the first place, all for the sake of patriotism. This kind of news makes me wonder what manner of leaders nigeria is cursed with. Every other major countries (even our neighbouring countries in africa) in the world are doing all they can to move forward, except nigeria. The first thing that came to my mind when I read this topic was exactly what was posted by samix: and its this same country some dudes here think its worth risking everything for, a country that just does not value its citizens, a country that does not understand what democracy is, a country that seems not to know the meaning of "freedom of speech". I was still fighting my concience trying to force myself to believe that it is not that bad when I read the reply to him by i-laugh: shut the f up - you stupid igilandi slave. I had no choice thereafter than to rest my case as the problem seems really not to be that of our leaders alone! |

I ask my first question , if i would arrest for posting satellite pictures of nigeria.? i did not get an answer, but the answer is no. Nobody can arrest you for posting . The issue is. this people may have done something that we did not know. And i do not believe Yar Adua is that bad, or is he that had that he would be going about arresting people who own online website. This yar adua have a master degree. And from the little i know about him i do not believe he ask anyone to arrest people. or can he do that? look even some of the pictures i post online. i have sent some to some senators and representative before. and i would take the pain of senting to all of them. Sowore who own sahara reporters would have verified those picture before he posted them online, The online posting is just trying to get nigeria to become a great nation. Look the people who own this website are not children. If they want to remove this govt in power, they would have done so. Some of them were in NADECO before. THe owner of NVS was my senoir in ilorin. nigerianmuse is a prof at howard. So you see if we want to work against the govt. we can, but that is not the reason, people are doing this. they just want to see nigerian lifes get better. I do not think it is too much to ask for the govt. To make a change and get working. look at George bush before he became president. He had no grey hair. noiw check him out, he has grey hair. from worry about his people. that should be the same in nigeria but in nigeria, politician get fat after 24 hrs in govt. take the picture of obama now and went he would finish office. obama would be so thin and many grey hair. this is what leadership is about. |

Both reporters live abroad and write about Nigeria. That is just simply stupid and irresponsible. I don't care what other countries would do in this situation but I support the questioning and detention of these fake reporters. If anyone has views and opinions he is free to post them but only under the appropriate context. If you have something to say, post a blog or leave comments in a forum like us normal people but don't call your perspective and untenable reports actual news just for cheap publicity and recognition or you will be forced to face the consequences. |

That I post true satellite pictures of Nigeria on the internet or What ?? This pictures I am posting is seen by over 5 billion people around the world. The whole world know that kano state is not 9 million. The whole world knows that the south is more populated then the north. WHat is the big deal about the pictures. Is it that makama 419 nigeria. And you think I would be scared about that or you want them to arrest you, You see I am only helping all of you from disgrace, you have put us. And can some tell Orji Kalu that Ekiti state is more populated than Abia state, And tell the river state government that Delta and edo state are more populated than rivers state. The kwara state is more populated than abia state, And edo state is more populated than Imo state, And edo state is more akwa ibom state., than borno state , than Jigawa state, than bauchi state, than enugu state and sokoto and zamfara state. |

@Nigeria1 You claim that you have proof , you are an engineer or something and that satellite images are sufficient to prove that these states have a population less than what was counted. But your method is far from scientific or analytical. Satellite images are indicators to settlement density not population density since they do not adequately reflect the number of people living in those settlements. Additionally you seem to not know that Kano and kaduna have several semi urban centres and a negligible number of villages. Kano, for instance the city where I come from , has urban centres in Bichi, Gwandu etc wich are part of the 42 local governments in the state. I see none of these settlements in your images. Where is Zaria in Kaduna. Anyone who has been to kaduna knows that Zaria is the largest city in the state. What is the satellite resolution? Did you take all pictures at the same resolution? Big pictures can seem smaller at large distances. As someone who is currently doing research in satellite communications engineering, I am not convinced by your evidence. This is just rhetoric. The census results may not be 100% accurate but they are the most dependable records we have. If you question them, the only way you can dispute them (scientifically that is) is to get off your chair, go to these states and recount. Until then be inventive and think of something else that will get our attention. |

As someone who is currently doing research in satellite communications engineering, If you claim you are doing research in satellite communication engineering, which I know you are telling a lie. what is the formular to calculate coverage area. ? All the places you talked about are small. I am not even from Kaduna mr, When I say Kaduna is more populated. I am telling you the true. I have posted the pictures. already. Just look for it. There is a gwandu in kano, and another in sokoto or kebbi. |

Thank you very much "Mr President" We are now begining to see the dividend of your rule of law, where freedom of speech is not allowed, Very well "SIR" thank you and all your "GOOD" Advisers you guys are really taking Nigeria to a greater hieght. it is because you people are coward in nigeria. look what nigeria do to nigerian , is called abuse. it can never happen here. you people are coward. this is not a joke. i can break up nigeria with 200 men. U know how. i have the north america mind set. Your president yar adua have no 2 head. sss men have no two head. they are human like you. What we have mostly among the yoruba leaders are traitor who have betray their people for money. I what the yoruba in the nigeria army are coward. If they see this picture and still sit down and listen to human being like them with just one head give them order and cheat them. They are coward, they are iyawo to the north. It tell you the yorubas in the nigeria army are woman and not men. that they are mere omo ale. who are just slavery to the hausa. We are talking of common civilian in power who want to continue to cheat our people. What do you think the hausa military men who do. if they were they one been cheated. They would remove Yar adua. You are only a man if you kill your fear. They are just coward. I have seen the satellite picture the south out number the north by 3 to 1 man. the north would not win a war. To show you President Yar Adua do not want to repent, he even went to approve the falsified census figures, mean he want to rigging the next election. And Yar adua want to continue to cheat the Yorubas, so yar adua is ready to fight the yorubas. And we Yorubas are ready to fight anybody who decide he want to be our enermy. Yar Adua never won the election in the first place, it was obasanjo a yoruba that rigged the election for him. Have you not seen the satellite picture. look my science knowledge alone can break nigeria into two. That even the north military men would run when they see what i can build. The Yoruba military are just mere coward, We are talking of common civilian. nigeriamail@hotmail.com |
