1.The mean weights of 3 groups of students are 40kg,45kg and 50kg respectively.If the number of students in the groups are 45,30 and 25 respectively,the mean weight of all the students is?

2.In an experiment,the mean of 25 observations was 6.one of the observers,which has the value of 30,was cancelled.The mean of the remaining observations is?

3.The average age of the three children in a family is 9 year.If the average age of their parents is 39yr.,the average age of the whole family is?

1. Let the total weight of the first group= x X/45 = 40 X= 40*45 X= 1800kg

Let the total weight of the 2nd group = y Y/30 = 45 Y= 30*45 Y= 1350kg

Let the total weight of the 3rd group = Z Z/25 = 50 Z= 50*25 Z= 1250kg
Total weight = 1800kg + 1350kg + 1250kg = 4400kg
Total number of students = 45+30+25 = 100
Therefore, mean weight of all students = 4400kg/100 = 44kg


2. X/25=6 X= 6*25 X= 150
150-30 = 120
120/24
= 5


3. Let the total age of children = x X/3 = 9 X= 9*3 X= 27years
Let the total age of parents= y Y/2= 39 Y= 39*2 Y= 78

Total age= 78+27 = 105yrs
Average age = 105/5
= 21yrs

Lolzzzz guys been destroying maths lik no man bizness 4getting dat dere wnt even b time 4 yu guys to solve all ds.. Well few yrs bk wen I was also like yu guys Infact I was a maths guru I make sure I tackle evry math questions I c either on nairaland or fb buh lo nd behold unilag gave me just 7 questions on math of which I had no time 2 even solve buh to God b d glory I still beat dia cutoff nd I can say dere is no math question pasted so far dat I dnt knw coz technically am an engineering student so all ds elementary mathematics is not a problem but lik av said earlier in one of my post nd am still goin 2 repeat it master ur current affairs nd English very coz dey r easier 2 answer nd less time taking unlik maths even thou yu knw it it might still take yu abt 2mins to solve dats if yu r very good buh English nd current affairs under 2mins yu would av answered over 10 questions dat is if yu knw wat yu r duin nd d funniest fn is dat dey all carry equal marks so prepare wisely nd dnt read amiss..... That you were given just 7 maths questions does not mean I cannot be given 15.



That you were not fast enough to solve them all does not mean I can't clear mine. In fact, I can solve 20 maths questions in less than 15 minutes. I'm sure my guys here too can do that. Talk of oluwayimikagidi, francisTony, harbeemx, kongru etc. I believe in them.


I think it's always better when one concentrates more on his strength. If Maths is our strength, leave us to concentrate more on it. Current affairs is a thing of luck.

if u said last year, i wud ave believe u, but u said some yrs ago, then its a lie, unilag started writing maths and english in 2011 post jamb, and it was 20 maths, 20 eng, they later introduce current affairs d following year which was in the order of 15 maths, 15 eng, 10 general paper, it was only last year mixing of question started, and besides does this current affairs have syllabus, i bet it with u, nobody can knw 50% d old and new current affairs, can some knw all d dates of independence of all d countries in d world, their capitals, currency, names of their ministers, presidents, vice president, dates of all of d happening of events since the creation of d world, why cant someone just concentrate on wat is within reach and pray for luck in current affairs

I think, what you see on the surface may not be what is outside at times. I have a diploma in Agric Engineering from a reputable polytechnic in Lagos, LASPOTECH.


I decided to drop sciences and start from the scratch. I'm better at social sciences/commercial.

I've to read government that I've never done in my life from the beginning and thank God I'd 79 in Jamb.
