Microsoft's Workforce Reduction Continues With 2,100 Additional Layoffs by vowiski(m): 6:34am On Sep 19, 2014
Microsoft is cutting 2,100 jobs on September 18. This is part of the official decision announced in July to layoff 18,000 jobs. 747 persons from the second round of layoffs would be in Washington, while the remaining layoffs will cut across Microsoft offices worldwide.

Microsoft hasn’t specified which teams are to be affected by the recent wave of layoffs. However, 12,500 of the total 18,000 layoffs will come from workers Microsoft acquired with the Nokia deal.

In July, Microsoft cut 13,000 jobs in the first waves of layoffs. A source claims that a large chunk of those affected included Nokia’s employees.
Microsoft also plans to reduce its dependency on part-time employee by 20 percent.
