Taraba State governor Danbaba Suntai’s health status is to be ascertained by a medical panel. Is Danbaba Suntai still capable of governing Taraba State? According to Sunnewsonline, the Taraba State House of Assembly has set a five-man medical team to probe healthof Danbaba Suntai. The ailing Taraba State governor has just returned from yet another trip to the United Kingdom where he received treatment since June 2014. In a yesterday’s statement, Taraba Assembly Speaker Josiah Sabo Kente, said the medical panel had been raised following a unanimous demand by members of the state’s Executive council. Before Danbaba Suntai’s return from the UK, the state’s commissioners and advisers had stressed the necessity to ascertain the “mental and physical condition of the governor”. Thus, they were asking to determine whether Danbaba Suntai is capable of steering the affairs of the state. Prof. Bala Shehu was named as chairman of the panel, with other members being Dr. Inusa Samaila, Prof. Peter Alabi, Dr. Shehu Sule, and Personal Physician to Suntai, Dr. Ahmed Kara. Danbaba Suntai’s camp reacted by describing the meaures as “illegal”. It would be recalled that Danbaba Suntai sustained major injuries when his aircraft crashed near Yola, Adamawa State on August 25, 2012. Multiple media and medical reports, as well as specualtions by those privy to the governor, indicate that Danbaba Suntai is still suffering from the consequences of the crash, both physically and mentally. |

The governor on the national television didn't look completely recovered to me, but as of his mental status, from what i saw, he seemed to have made a considerable improvement since he could identified people around him and also signified interest to go back to office, that on its own is a past mark on his mental evaluation and should be allowed to resume work. |
