Intels General Manager incharge of administration and marketing, Mr Chuks Ihuoma, was shot dead on Tuesday night in Port Harcourt.

Mr Ihuoma was killed by suspected assassins near his residence in Rumuibekwe Housing Estate in the Rivers State capital. It was gathered that four gunmen in a Pathfinder Jeep, cornered the Intels boss while on his way home from work and fired several shots at him.

He was said to have died before medical help could reach him. When contacted, police spokesperson, Mrs Rita Inoma-Abbey said nine expended bullets of AK 47 rifles were recovered from the scene of the incident. Please watch the video. No matter what the young lady must have done they are trained military men. they swore to protect and serve. I think they should come out openly and tender an apology that's all.

Minister's security aides brutalise FAAN driver in Jos

SECURITY operatives attached to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, on Sunday evening at Mararaban Foron, near Jos, the Plateau State capital, manhandled the driver of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) simply identified as Dung. They also smashed the 16-seater Toyota bus belonging to FAAN.

Eyewitness said the minister and his convoy were probably returning from his home, Mangu, while the FAAN driver was coming from the Jos Airport to pick his boss, the Airport Regional Manager, Mr. Chris Bature, who used the vehicle as his official car.

"The driver was in front of the convoy. They had been pursuing him but the convoy was able to overtake him at Mararaban Foron Junction near Jos. All the minister's security men descended heavily on him.

"Because the FAAN driver is a hefty and strong man, he did not fall neither did he give up in spite of all the injuries inflicted on him. He made sure that everybody had a taste of the blood gushing out from his nose and body by rubbing it on the clothes of the security men. By then the Minister had come out of his vehicle, standing without saying anything. At this stage the people of Mararaban Foron came out in their numbers to show sympathy by simply wailing and shouting: "What you people are doing is not good. Do you want to kill this man?"

As the crowd surged forward wailing, the source said to make sure there was no reprisal attack from them, the security aides fired gun shots into the air twice to disperse them. He said the driver who was soaked with blood all over was moving directionlessly like a wounded lion.

He said the security aides tried to bundle the driver into their vehicle but met a stiff resistance from him. Then somebody quickly advised the minister to leave, that it was not good for him to remain at the scene while his men were unleashing terror on a harmless citizen.

The minister was said to have bought the idea and he moved into his car while the convoy also left.

"It was at that point that they left the FAAN man. But as the security men were moving away, the wounded driver held onto one of them. They tried to remove his grip from the security man but to no avail. The driver succeeded in forcing himself into the moving vehicle and they drove away. Up till now, nobody knows what has become of the man," he alleged.

The Guardian contacted the Personal Assistant to the minister, Mr. Paul S. Gwankat, who confirmed the story, saying that the case had been lodged at the Bukuru Police Station.

At the State Police Command Headquarters in Jos, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Kassim, said that he had not been well, directing the reporter to Bukuru Police Station.

An officer at the Bukuru Police Station said there was no such case. When the reporter got to the airport, the FAAN spokesman could not be reached.

The FAAN vehicle was however parked at the Barkin Ladi Police Station where a source said the driver was hospitalised at Barkin Ladi General Hospital and later discharged.

The regional manager with the Presidency had taken up the case, according to the source.

At the Barkin Ladi Police Station, the van marked FAAN was parked near the bush while the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) was not available to comment on the matter.

Imagine catching top people in office on video with sound taking bribes or even having the face of a regular police officer harrasing citizens or threatening someone's life. People in the US are even video taping their homes now when they are not there. If someone breaks in they have a video and they can put their face on tv. There are annonymous tip lines that if you see that person anywhere and you call and that call leads to an arrest you can claim some money. There is another kid I saw on TV that video tapped a police officer basically saying that he would make up charges so the boy can go to jail. I think the boy provoked the officer but guess what an officer making that statement is unacceptable and he lost his job. You can get some of these survellance cameras for very cheap too. I think it is worth looking into especially in that Nigeria.

The same old story. I do not think that since Nigeria claimed to be independent as a country, the Nigerian military have ever understood what their primary responsibility is.

Since i was born, i always hear and see how military men harrass and intimidate civilians in a country they are supposed to defend and pity enough the situation have not changed.

Enquires upon enquires, panel upon panel, commisson upon commision and then case closed. Life continues, the normal suffering and smiling.

The next time, in your very eyes the same appalling intimidation is melted out upon a civilian and life goes on. The media, the press makes the headline describing the abomination and the readers read in awe, with unbelievable eyes.
