Recently, Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum revealed on Ellen DeGeneres Show that he is absolutely afraid of singing in front of a crowd. What he also disclosed is that he hates Porcelain dolls, and he freaked out when the host of the talk show, Ellen, brought out two dolls. Just like any person with Pediophobia or fear for dolls, Channing said that the life-like eyes of the dolls have always scared him. There are many famous people from different fields who have phobias. Let us look at the names of a few of such famous people with strange phobia: 10. Keanu Reeves: Nyctophobia/Scotophobia Professionally, he has performed some brazen actions in The Matrix and Speed, and has not deterred from performing the daring acts for his films. In his personal life, he has dealt with his girlfriend’s death in an automobile wreck, eighteen months after giving birth to their still-born girl-child. He has seen darkness that life can offer, what with his intimate observation of homeless people. Ironically, he has a fear of darkness. When asked, he defines his phobia as a rather philosophical one. He could just be scared of dying.

9. Madonna: Astraphobia/Brontophobia Madonna, the American singer-songwriter and entertainer, is one of the boldest musicians to have stepped into the entertainment industry. Even at the age of 55, she is quite capable of setting a storm on the stage with her seductive performance and appearance. But, what is it that strikes fear in the heart of this dauntless person? Well, it seems that the dynamic woman has a paralyzing fear of thunderstorms. 8. Natalie Wood: Hydrophobia This beautiful actress of the yesteryear’s is still famous for her works in films like West Side Story and 34th Street. The pretty lady had a fear for water. To be more specific, she was terrified of being in water. Though it is not confirmed how she developed this fear, it is believed that once, as a young girl, she was tricked by her mother into standing on a bridge which had been rigged for her to fall into the water below. This prank probably left a scar in her mind. Ironically, Natalie died of drowning after she fell off a yacht one night.

Johnny Depp: Coulrophobia This American actor and film producer is widely appreciated not just for his excellent acting skills but also for the wide range of appearances which he dons for his different films. His characters, like Captain Sparrow, Edward Scissorhand, Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter, etc. all use heavy make-up to create completely disparate looks. But, Johnny is scared of clowns, mainly because of the fake smile and the painted face. He gets the feeling that there is something dark and evil lurking beneath the surface. Weirdly enough, to ward off the evil, he surrounds himself with clown paraphernalia.

He is drool-worthy in many ways, and has indeed managed to build himself a well organized life, career and family. So, what is it that scares him? Well, it seems that his biggest fear is disorder. David Beckham is terrified of mess and untidiness. Everything around him should be nothing but organized. What many don’t know about him is that he is a sufferer of Panophobia, which is the fear of practically everything. From being afraid of heights, enclosed places, and insects, to being terrified of bright colours, elevators or sunshine, Allen has a non-specific fear of everything being a source of evil. He also has neurotic needs: his shower drain must be in a corner, and his breakfast banana must be cut to 7 pieces. He has spent 40 years, undergoing psychoanalysis.

4. Pamela Anderson: Eisoptrophobia There are a lot of women who look into the mirror, wishing they were endowed with just a portion of Pamela Anderson’s features. She is beautiful, sultry, vivacious, and talented, and inspires many women. Surprisingly, she is not fond of seeing herself on the mirrors, because she has a phobia of mirrors. This phobia could be based on the many superstitions revolving around mirrors, or the concept that the reflection on the mirror is a reflection of the soul. How she manages her beauty routine is beyond us?. In fact, the Baywatch babe hates seeing herself on the television, as well.

3. Nicole Kidman: Lepidopterphobia When Nicole sees the innocent and beautiful butterfly flap past her, it sets her heart a flutter. But, that’s not really in a good way. She has dealt with a ghost house The Others, and managed to seduce a 16-year old into murdering her husband in To Die For. She isn’t afraid reptiles, spiders, ghosts or murderers. What terrifies her is a butterfly. She finds the creatures weird and eerie. Perhaps it is the hairy feet, or their nature of flying and fluttering about here and there, but Nicole is just awfully scared of them. Her fear can be associated with Mottephobia, which is the fear of moths.

2. Alfred Hitchcock: Ovophobia This famous director and producer of Hollywood is well-known for the thrilling works that he has done, such as Vertigo and Psycho. But, the man who dealt with striking shocks in the audience with his thrillers was himself bugged by a random but deep fear of eggs. He found eggs absolutely revolting, and had never tasted one in his entire life. It was absolutely repulsive for him to see a white ovoid thing with no opening spill yellow liquid from within it. He was so revolted by them that he even refused to be around them.

Oprah has a fear of chewing gums. As a young girls, she saw her grandmother chew gums and stick them into cabinets, where there were rows of Spearmint and Juicy Fruit. Eventually, she started hating the sound of chewing gums, or how people play with them, so much so, that she has banned it from the building where she shoots her shows. For instance, the first US President, George Washington was Taphephobic, i.e. he feared being buried alive, while the 34th President, Richard Nixon, suffered from Nosocomephobia, i.e., fear of hospitals. French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte had Ailurophobia, a fear of cats. Scientist Nikola Tesla had Kosmimaphobia, which is the fear of jewelry, as well as Mysophobia, the fear of germs. Sigmund Freud, who was the master of psychoanalysis and dealt with the study of phobias among other things, himself suffered from Hoplophobia, i.e. the fear of weapons, and Pteridophobia, the uncommon fear of ferns. The way I take dey fear height ehn?  That one is even good. The one that scares the hell out of me is that forceful breeze that hugs someone who is walking close to a road, and a long, heavy-duty truck flies by. In traffic, I'm scared of being directly behind or before a truck. I'm scared of overtaking a truck.  Anything "truck" gives me the creeps. I think mine is Truckophobia  2 Likes |
