The controversies generated by the curious transfer of 47 Boko Haram suspects to Ekwulobia Prisons in Anambra State may soon go away following a 2-hour closed door meeting Wednesday between the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and a 7-man delegation from the National Security Adviser at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
The meeting which attracted highly respected senior citizens of the state took place on the instance of the Presidency following a passionate appeal by Governor Obiano to the Presidency, endless protests and wide agitations by traders, the South East Governors’ Forum, OhanezeNdigbo, Aka Ikenga, members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, Association of Town Unions, civil society groups and numerous social cultural associations across the region against the transfer of the dreaded inmates from Chad to Ekwulobia.
Addressing the press after the meeting, Governor Obiano assured NdiAnambra that the deliberations between his team and the team from the Presidency was highly successful and expressed optimism that the matter would be resolved very soon.
Flanked by the Obi of Onitsha, HRM, Igwe Nnemeka Achebe, the Igwe of Umuoji, HRH Cyril Enweze, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Okafor, the Anglican Bishop of Awka, Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim, the Anambra State Chairman of CAN, Apostle Theo Okpala, Akudolu Gozie, Coordinator South East Traders Association, Okwudili Ezenwankwo, President General AMATAS, Dr. Jude Okolo, National President ASATU and Barr. Ephraim Ilozumba, National Legal Adviser ASATU, Governor Obiano explained that the Presidency was fully aware of the strong feelings of Ndi Anambra against the presence of the high risk prisoners and had given his assurance that the dreaded inmates would soon be moved out of the state.
He called on Ndi Anambra to maintain the peace and desist from anything that might lead to a disruption of the harmonious atmosphere that has enveloped the state in the past one year, further emphasizing that the matter would soon be over.
Since news of the transfer of the deadly prisoners to Ekwulobia, a busting commercial town in Aguata Local Government Area, filtered to town, Governor Obiano has been relentless in his efforts to engage all the relevant authorities on the matter in Abuja while re-assuring NdiAnambra to desist from anything that might lead to a breach of the peace.

This issue would have created problems for Buhari. At some point people would have tried to burn down that prison and whether they succeed or not, either some of the prisoners will die or some protesters. Protesters will likely take out their frustrations on northerners in Anambra which may cause more problems. Either way, that situation will exercebate the problem and lead to other revenge actions. I glad the toxic cargo will leave the state without creating unnecessary insecurity and reprisal actions here and there.

Anambra State Govt. to enter into a bilateral Partnership with the Republic of Korea across various sectors


The State Government is to enter into a bilateral Partnership with the Republic of Korea across various sectors including Education, Power, Agriculture and Oil and Gas.

Governor Willie Obiano, disclosed this after a closed door meeting with the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Kidok Noir, at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia.
Our Government House anchor man, Kenechukwu Ofomah, reports that the meeting, which had some officials of the Embassy in Nigeria as well as top state government functionaries in attendance was aimed at enhancing the bilateral relationship between the Asian country and the State.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Governor Obiano said his administration is exploring every avenue within its means to generate both local and international support in the task of transforming the state.

According to the Governor, part of the discussions at the meeting was how the state can partner with the Republic of Korea in providing Captive power Projects to industrial clusters in the state, to give impetus to his industrial revolution vision, as well as how they can support to boost activities in two of his key development pillars namely, Agriculture and Oil and Gas.

On Education, Governor Obiano revealed that the meeting deliberated on the prospects of introducing the Smart Schools Project where high-tech ICT devices and systems will be provided to improve on the quality of education offered and link schools for effective information dissemination and exchange.

The Governor, while expressing optimism that the deliberation will soon translate into real action in terms of support to the state pledged his commitment to providing necessary framework that will enable the deals to excel.

On his part, the Korean Ambassador, Mr. Noir, explained that his visit to discuss the possibility of improved bilateral relationship with the state was propelled by the positive leadership model entrenched by Governor Willie Obiano, which has elicited the interest of his country.

Mr. Noir, who expressed satisfaction with the discussions at the meeting as well as development indices on ground in the state, promised to take the positive message back to his country for further deliberations with a view to finalizing talks on the partnership.

Several property worth over N1billion belonging to the Anambra Orient Petroleum Limited were also destroyed in the clash.
Irate youths armed with various dangerous weapons attacked the Orient Petroleum facilities located 10 kilometers away from the abode of the people of Enugu- Otu Aguleri, destroying property of the company in the process.

Irked by the action of the youth from Odeke, the Otu-Aguleri community quickly mobilized to repel the attackers who fled, leaving behind huge destruction from the property they set ablaze.
Kogi people have been laying claims to the oil wells in Aguleri –Otu in Anambra State shortly after President Goodluck Jonathan commissioned the Orient Ptetroleum Refinery in Anambra State in 2012.

I've always said that certain elements are not happy with the fact Anambra is exploiting it's oil and gas reserves; marginal oil fields that our enemies thought in the late 60s didn't amount to much otherwise they would have placed Aguleri in the Northern Region during state creation in 1966.....kinda like they did with Egbema and my place Ndoni (forget Ogba....looks like they've bought into the lies and the divide-and-rule tactics) which were placed in Rivers when the old Eastern Region was balkanised by the usual suspects just to deal with Ndigbo and weaken us!

I'm certain there are bigger forces behind the scene goading and supporting these filthy toe-rags....they can't bear to see any Igbo or Alaigbo progress better or faster than them and they have placed a glass-ceiling on our achievements......hence all the shenanigans, policies and marginalization we've been witnessing right from the time the uncivil war broke out to date!

They're now happy the Fulani have taken over Aso Rock, and machinery can now be put in place to sabotage the entire oil and gas economy of Anambra state!

Something I noticed about the youths of these communities is that they are more concerned with harassing people building houses for chicken change than fighting for their resource which will give them more wealth in the future but not immediately. It bugles my mind how Odeke youth travel more than 10 km into Anbra territory to attack Aguleri and Orient and they escape with their lives after each commando mission. Someone somewhere is in collaboration to make such dangerous missions successful.

Jonathan was there for 6 years and what did he do? Igbos should stop creating enemity where there exists none. Igala people are not Hausa or Fulani but more related to Igbo, Idoma and Yoruba. Boundary disputes have always existed and will continue as nature did not create clear cut boundaries. Even Umuleri and Aguleri or Ife and Modakeke had brutal boundary dispute and both are blood brothers living together.

Buhari in power changes nothing. Kogi, Anambra and Enugu should reach an agreement on how to share the proceeds for peace to reign.
