2014 Ibadan Festival Kicks Off by Solutioncrib: 6:52am On Oct 03, 2014 |
Events marking the 2014 Ibadan Festival commenced with an unveiling ceremony of the festival logo and cultural torch at the banquet hall, Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Thursday. According to the chairman, Ibadan Annual Festival Planning Committee, Dr Ademola Moradeyo, the 2014 event, 25th of its kind, with the theme "Sustaining The Best," will climax on November 22 with a grand finale featuring stage plays, social clubs parade, and a showcase of historical Ibadan warlords at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. While unveiling the cultural torch, Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, represented by the state Commissioner for Natural Resources, Honourable Fatai Abimbola, expressed the commitment of the state government to the promotion of culture and tradition of the ancient city of Ibadan. Similarly, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr Seyi Makinde, who unveiled the festival logo with a donation of N1 million, called on all Ibadan indigenes to fully participate in the annual festival. President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Mustafa Oyero, noted that the Ibadan festival provided a forum to bring indigenes of the city together regardless of their location. The festival continues on Friday with a visit to the Governor Ajimobi with the torch and subsequently a rally with the torch around the country. Some dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, represented by Chief Eddy Oyewole; Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Chief Mrs Labake Lawal; Chief Abiodun Kola-Daisi; State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Umar Arisekola-Alao; and Commissioner for Information, Prince Gbade Lana. http://solutioncrib.com/discussion/1990/Posted 4 Likes 2 Shares |
