calaharry: Sloganeering is different from reality. Read: The Bible (from Koine Greek τὰ βιβλία, tà biblía, "the books" is a canonical collection of texts sacred in Judaism and Christianity. There is no single "Bible" and many Bibles with varying contents exist. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible It did not take me 5 minutes to prove you wrong and destroy your argument. You have no foundation and you cannot build something on nothing. If you say Christianity is built on the Bible and I prove to you that the Bible is not reliable as there is no true authentic copy, you should deduce logically that you have no point. However, your conditioning and inability to break free from it would likely mean that you would argue rather than accept the superior position and upgrade your status. #Hehehehe 20 Likes |

maclatunji: It is hard and almost invisible to engage some1 like you on this issue bc you are already lost in the concept right from the start. But mind you. The concept of sonship or fatherhood transcends human basic understanding of biological mating. ... You are lacking in the ability to understand this and accept these simple facts, so it is pointless starting to debate it with you. Be open minded first. 6 Likes |

i am very much disappointed wit some christians here who insinuated dat muslims re idol worshippers or they re secrifising their rams to the idols/gods. i besiege u to learn abt islam. stop listening to hearsay abt d religion. Take ur time and study d teaching of islam and i am sure u will knw dat islam totally condemn idol worshipping or even associating partner wit God. Some of my silient ppts re: 1. Idol worshippers do not hv a book but muslims hv quran 2. Idol worshipers do not acknowledge Jesus as a man of God 3. Idol worshippers do hv a physical object or being they re worshipping other than one God 4. Muslims do not seek for help from any other being besides one God not even from Muhammad (SAW) 5. Muslims hv acknowledged other prophets contained in bible like moses, abraham, noer, jeseph, jacoub etc 5. main difference btw d two religions is d position of jesus in the eye of the lord. 10 Likes |

The story behind the Muslims' Ileya festival celebration could be traced back to the first book of Moses - Genesis Genesis 22 New King James Version (NKJV) Abraham’s Faith Confirmed 22 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad[a] and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.” 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. 9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” 12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” 15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Gone are those days when God used to delight in burnt offering or sacrifices of men majorly used as an atonement for sin or seen as an appeasement. However, according to the Gospel - "The New Testament", Jesus Christ was sent to the world to die for our sins and teach us the ways of the father - GOD. The birth of Jesus Christ, His death on the cross of Calvary and his resurrection into glory, brings and marks a significant meaning and era in the Christendom. He'd done all the work of the salvation of our souls on the cross of Calvary, by paying the price for us all, and we are no longer required to offer burnt offering or sacrifices to God whenever we err, but asking for forgiveness of sins from GOD, the father, through our Lord Jesus Christ, because he is the intermediary between God and Us and our mediator. (John 14:6) In the present day practices of Christianity, God no longer has delight in our sacrifices, burnt offerings of scented or savorous animals, BUT our perfect obedience to His wills, his commandments and his words. Eating of Ileya's meat negates and betrays the crucificial and sacrificial love demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ, on the cross of Calvary on our behalf. It is simply tantamount to making His price of love go to a waste over our lives; when we keep practicing things of old or beliefs, instead of honoring and appreciating His good works of the salvation of our souls with perfect obedience to the word of GOD and doing the will of He who had sent him to die for our sins. Nowadays, God no longer test us by asking us to sacrifice our sons, families or loved ones, but watching how we live our lives in accordance to his word (Holy Bible) and commandments. Below are biblical references to buttress and expatiate on the topic Retrieved from http://www.openbible.info/labs/cross-references/search?q=1+Samuel+15%3A22 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. Hosea 6:6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. Psalm 51:16-17 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Matthew 9:13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Proverbs 21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Micah 6:6-8 “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Amos 5:21-24 “I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Jeremiah 7:22-23 For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’ Matthew 12:7 And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. Psalm 40:6-8 In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required. Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” Hebrews 10:4-10 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’” When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), Ecclesiastes 5:1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. Psalm 50:8-9 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me. I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds. Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Jeremiah 26:13 Now therefore mend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of the Lord your God, and the Lord will relent of the disaster that he has pronounced against you. Isaiah 1:11-17 “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. “When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts? Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood. Matthew 5:24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Jeremiah 11:7 For I solemnly warned your fathers when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, warning them persistently, even to this day, saying, Obey my voice. Jeremiah 11:4 that I commanded your fathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. So shall you be my people, and I will be your God, Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; We have to respect the Muslims' practice of the festival as that is the belief and the ordinances that had been laid down for them by their role model Muhammad (SAW). The decision of a Christian eating or not eating Ileya's meat should be treated as a subjective matter, and we should try as much as possible to learn how to cohabit as one people and nation in the sight of God, but belonging to diverse ethnicities, tribes, and creeds. We should learn how to respect other people's way of life, their belief and others so long we are not in anyway negatively affected by them - acceptance. And lastly, it is a duty of a Christian as an individual to decide for himself however, he chose to live his life, and strongly recommended that he or she knows whom they believe in, and following on the leads, and guidance of God through the Holy Spirit and in complete obedience to the word of God which is our mandate in this life. Happy Sabbath to all, may the Lord of the Sabbath blesses and enriches our spirit, souls and bodies in Jesus name, amen. Beloved, remain blessed. 3 Likes |

Apostle Paul in 1Cor 8:1-13 tackled this issue head on. According to him, he didn't see anything wrong in eating meat offered to idols since there is only one God through his son Jesus Christ and so idols are nothing: However, he warned well grounded christians like him to be careful and cautious as their actions might cause weaker christians to sin or think less of their christian faith. For example, if you see your well-annointed and spirit-filled church Pastor in a beer parlour cooling down with some bottles of beer, you'll agree with me that you may want to begin to question the genuineness of his christian belief considering his status but meanwhile taking alcohol in itself does not necessarily amount to sin. This is what Apostle Paul was trying to point out that though we have this freedom in Christ, we should nevertheless be careful and restrain ourselves less our weaker christian brothers and sisters think less of their faith and thereby commit sin through us. Hence, from Apostle Paul explanation, it is quite clear that eating ileya meat MAY or MAY NOT be sin depending on the situation. In fact, in verse 13 of that chapter, Apostle paul summarised his own decision. 1 Like |

These arguments will continue till forever...in the end we all have our choices to make. Some Muslim folks see it as "haram" to give or receive a handshake from the opposite sex same way some Christian folks do not think it's right to eat "ileya meat"..it's all about perception. Enough said...#sallah meat makes all the sense in the world#... |
