5 Tips On How Nigerian Female Celebrities Can Have Longlasting Marriages. by publisher(m): 8:51pm On Oct 05, 2014
For those of us that kinda know TeeBillz & Tiwa Savage personally, reports of crisis in their young marriage might not come as a surprise. Early last year, TeeBillz(then Tiwa's boyfriend) posted a naked picture of himself pooing in the toilet, according to him,it was a message to his haters. At that point most of us knew that he had a loose screw in his head.

How about the case of comediane Princess who (according to amebos) allowed her then boyfriend access to her ATM card while they were dating only to withdraw such access after marriage. Surely, the marriage broke up in weeks.

So what are the options for Nigerian female celebrities? How can they sustain long lasting marriages?

I've got 5 tips.

1. Leave showbizness forever: If Regina Askia was still a Nigerian celebrity, her marriage would have crumbled for good. She did have early squabbles in her marriage with the African-American husband, but thankfully it was sorted out. Regina Askia in spite of the mad fame she enjoyed in Nigeria during the late 90s walked away from it all. She picked up a career as a nurse/care-giver in the US and from the look of things, she's still happily married, well over twelve years later.

2. Don't marry a fellow celebrity: when two celebrities decide to get married in today's dotcom society, everything goes wrong. It's like living a real life 'Big Brother' reality show where all eyes are on both of you waiting and watching to see who fumbles first. This scenario plays out everywhere in the world where a vibrant entertainment industry exists. When two celebrities decide to get married one of them should leave the industry, preferably the lady. If Olu Jacobs and Joke Sylva were a young celebrity couple in today's Nigeria, they would have found things very difficult. Luckily, during their younger years our societal values were less corrupt.

3. Avoid insecured men: but how does she detect such a character? As a female celebrity,if you are dating a man that wants to join you in every single red carpet event you attend, then there's a problem. He wants a share of your fame, it boosts his own ego and self-confidence. The moment you get married and for some reason he can't join you on some VIP event somewhere in Atlanta (say his visa was denied), he will start to resent you. This is the success secret behind Omotola Jalade's long lasting marriage; her husband is a professional pilot, full of self confidence-he doesn't have time for 'iranu'.

4. Avoid long distance relationships with so-called Nigerian big boys based abroad: Long distance relationships on its own is a b*tch, now add the celebrity factor. I hate to open this lid but a lot of wealthy young Nigerians based abroad see pretty Nigerian female celebrities as a mere trophy worth having. They've seen your movies, lusted over you and knowing they are rich, whenever they visit Nigeria with pockets full of dollars and pounds, you tend to take them seriously. They marry you sharply, and fufil all the lustful desires that their vaseline and kleenex tissue could not achieve when they watched your love scenes with Jim Iyke on IrokoTV. Once they've seen it all they'll let you go and return to their "white woman."

5. Ask important questions to your husband's Ex: it is no longer news that many Nigerian female celebrities end up with divorcees as husbands. Well, nothing wrong with that, but it would be much better if our female celebrities take the pains to reach out to their fiance's Ex wife and find out what truly went wrong in their failed marriage. Such a revelation can safeguard your own future. This particular tip is applicable to all women (celebrity or not) getting married to a divorcee'

Bonus tip-Consider polygamy: Yes i said it. If you don't want to leave showbiz but desire marriage, how about considering the position of a second, third or fourth wife? The only bonafide Nigerian husband that 'may' allow you unlimited freedom as your showbiz career demands is one with many other wives to worry about.

So, these are my tips...thank me later.

Did they say they want long marriages?

Not everyone considers it important, people have different priorities and its wrong to assume.
