No fewer than 2000 houses have been submerged following heavy rainfall which caused flooding in parts of Makurdi, the Benue State capital. Some of the affected areas include Inioungu community, Part of Rice Mill and New Garage all in Wadata as well as Kutcha Utebe and behind Zone 4 among others. Mr. Sylvester Adikwu, a retired civil servant whose four bedroom bungalow has been submerged said, the flood occured so suddenly that most residents had little time to evacuate valuable belongings.
