wonderful step but enforcement matters.
Re: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by blackweaver(m): 11:43am On Nov 13, 2008
Yeah nice idea i agree but like many other people, i wonder how he will
enforce it, after all this year they said they would start fining vehicles: cars, bikes trucks
that drive against traffic; many bikes still do so and get away without even a warning.
Also i thought there was also a law against buying stuff on the road during holdups
and such but if anyone has been caught for patronising those that sell on the road,
i am yet to hear of it. My point is this: if it's so difficult to enforce laws made for 'ordinary'
civilians, how does he intend to enforce laws against fellow governors? who's going
to arrest them for violating these rules the traffic wardens that are less armed than
the security personnel in the governor's convoy?

Fashola must be the most sound minded politician right now in nigeria, judging by his moves and policies, that's what the people need, power belongs to the people not public servants.

they say in the land of the blind;the one eyed man is king.yes we have had such a long period of bad rule that i fear we dont even know wot governance is. funny i also believe that fashola is a bit different butt who wont be? when ur party is not in national view.that said, can u remember a couple of months ago when thisday ran an expose n funds disbursement in lagos?it was alleged that the monies were outrageous n they couldnt be traced cos of the secret posture of d lagos state govt n its ministries. also where is the findings of the 'murder' of innocent nigerians in ejigbo area by chaugory brothers'. the coy ran heavy equipments over a NNPC pipe n led to an inferno that claimed amongst its victims, nursery and pri school pupil n wot happened to them? that was the question thisday raised n how were they answered? they govt didnt respond even when the coy was traced to tinubu but began harassing thisday about their tax, revoked its land license and 'childishly'' returned the plaque given the previous year as the 'best' governor, vowing never to grant them interviews!!!!! hello, democrat indeed. i dont want to waste my energy on what we know,we as the future of nigeria must become political active and stop all these hypocrisy

Hhhmmm. . . So I am supposed to believe that the post I had in bold earlier, was not for me but you here you say you agree with what this has to say in the last paragraph?? hhmm. . . Anyway, this is not the first time I have seen you do this, so as always, I will choose to move on and spend time on people who are more open and not looking for persons to throw under the bus so they can claim to be MORE PATRIOTIC THAN the next man.

@ kobojunkie.
hey,how far??ive also been looking 4 u,where have u been?u alwayz run away n plant ur ways with a siren on people that have been blinded with opression(like urself).so,how have u been??u no really u just have to stop posting on nairaland, coz i feel so bad 4 u n ur weak points?u dont know lagos n definatly dont know the governor or his efforts to ensure stability in the state through law or otherwise.trust me if he sayz something,BLAM, he pushes for it well.this is the same man that said people shouldnt use one way n he caught a military man using it n came out of the car n turned him back,a man that has come out of his car numerous times to control traffic,a man that made oshodi sane,u really dont know this man o!!another point is that u should not blame everything on him coz the federal arm has its roll to play,if the police which is federal(PDP) decide not to do nothing to the big culprits then he will not be able to roll on them so they have to walk hand in hand, look at it,the assult on the girl isnt a state matter only its a federal matter but what has the president done about it?its a big disgrace to naija as a whole,it on the net n what has the federal arm done??nada!!aim at them n not the lag state govnor, remember, he dosnt even use sirens in his own state sef where the traffic hits the hardest!!eko oni ba je
Re: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by dlox01(m): 1:45pm On Nov 19, 2008
Well, please let people have their say. We can not all see FASHOLA through the same rose coloured goggles as you do. For one, I don't believe in praising any person I do not know personally cause I do not know what is done in secret. I think those who doubt his ability have about 49 years worth of history and reason to. It is up to Fashola himself to convince them and that entails his actually keeping his word. I am sure you know that not everyone is gullible enough to take him at his word? My people say Action Speaks louder than words. I happen to be one of those who subscribes to that idea, and I will not trust in what I do not see when it comes to man.

@kobojunkie, honestly u bore me.'u dont believe in praising any person you dont know personally', think of that statement well!!i do know one thing,'u believe in condeming people u dont know pesonally', the worst part about u n ur blind arguments aimed at seeking attention which ur sorrily getting is that u so not living or feeling the pain the people here were feeling and what has changed and what hasnt,u just run your mouth, period.yes action speaks louder than words,if the gov'nor of Lag used sirens then u would have made a point there but ur off point,u seem not to realise that in naija we are gradually getting to a point where the ordinary man has his/her right enforced, years back would anybody dare come out n say stuff bout a naval man the way we are talking about?nah, alot of people would have had thier heads off,if not in puublic,it would be in private.the govnor of lagos state is the best of the bunch period,if u know him or not we dont really care, how would u ever know him when ur way off, dont worry ehhhh we will package him in a container so u can groom him n ul get to know him well 'NURSING MOTHER' angry

FOLOS OR WETIN BE DAT UR NAME, dont blindly follow newspaper write ups.in this naija, with cheese i can make a newspaper write ur history backwards.ThisDay knew what it was doing when it made such allegations,it was just a coy to make the governor fall out with tinubu but it didnt work.On a real not, what da Bleep is a thisDAy awardna who get this day??how much is thisDAy worth??is it big enuff for its award not to be returned by the governor of lagos state??why make a fuss about a bloody editor who if i ask u now u dont even know his name unless u refer?if Fashola had held on to the crap,he and the AC would have had a face off definatly, then one PDP man(maybe obanikoro) would show up from somewhere n be the next gov'nor.we have seen faceoffs in the lagos state PDP,we have seen faceoff in lagos AC,we have seen it oyo state(which is still on till after the death of adedibu)which they still havnt been able to pull out of.ThisDAy was just a political tool, period.then please o,make this day show how up to dat they are on thier Tax sef

Re: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by jimmyjam: 4:55am On Nov 22, 2008
it can never work be lagos state has no jurisdiction over national security issues by law, such issues can only be official from the FG, also fashola cannot enforce it because he has not control over police by law! shi ke na!

so fashola and the state legislative are only inviting qeury and possibly arrest from FG if they are to even try to pass such thing to law, nigeria is a federal republic not a democratic republic and long live the federal republic on nigeria. nigeria was created before lagos state, long live the federal republic!
Re: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by namun(f): 10:10pm On Nov 22, 2008
God forbid,
may this federal republic not live long. may it be removed immediately. may it end a tragic end. who are these people praying such a prayer. please what we need in this country is a sovereign national conference and hence a loose federation. so that fashola can make more laws that would protect our land. that is the yoruba land. lagos state  itself. please, we the owners are not compaining about the law so others can shut their trap.
apart from that it is not compulsary for poeple to come to lagos. u can as well remain in your various staes.

Are you for real? or have you just taken a few too many happy pills?

A federal republic is a federation of states with a republican form of government. A federation is the central government. The states in a federation also maintain all political sovereignty that they do not yield to the federation.
Powers of the central government are restricted and STATES retain a degree of self-government.

WTH are you going on about?
