Science, Progress and Development cannot take irreversible roots in Africa until Africans embrace the proven progress paths of Europe, the Americas and Asia: hypothesis > experimentation > theory > authentication > progress. For centuries Europeans wallowed in inquisitorial witch-hunting, religious superstition, ignorance, disease and poverty until Europe gave them up and rapidly grew into a prosperous society.

Africans need to free Africa from the deadly twin-disease of superstition and demon-obsessed modern religious superstition. Given time psychological and physical injuries can heal but there is no prosthetic to repair a mind amputated by superstition.

Superstition thrives on viral gossip, fear-mongering and loud threats of vaguely dire consequences. It is a disservice to Nature and a limitation on the resourcefulness of the Almighty to refuse to give modern interpretation to the ancient scrolls that rule your current life. How do we explain a cellphone-wielding Ph.D. holder with Google access (and weather updates) asking a herbalist to 'divine' whether or not it would rain tomorrow?

It is demoralizing that in the second decade of the 21st Century even religious Nigerians would believe the nonsense that witches fly as birds in broad day light and perchance, fall and instantaneously transform into a homeless woman that a superstitiously rage-righteous crowd then attacked and beat nearly to death.

Why can't Nigerian Witches give Nigerians "bird-visas" to travel abroad?
