With all the present talk going on about the loan for a nomination form costing 27M and how Buhari doesn't own a property in Abuja, it got me thinking about the pension and retirement packages of former heads of state and after coming across this I was shocked about the privileges the president, vice present, senate president, speaker and Chief Justice enjoy after office

The hype abt 27 million he got as a loan from the bank is really exposing many people's ignorance! It's funny, he sure has 27 million naira in his account, but a good businessman who is highly influential doesn't dip his hands in his cash at hand even for business.. Dangotte collects loan and pays back in bits..this allows u to focus the cash at hand into other things.. This 27 mills can be paid thru his monthly pensions as a head of state, petroleum minister and so on.. An agreement will just be signed and he wldnt even knw wen he finished paying.. You people are funny, I swear! 2 Likes |

And what is your point OP? If you must know, the law was passed and signed in 2010. Before then GMB had been living on his Military Pension as a Major General. He built his modest house with the earnings of his Military Pension. After the 2010 law was signed, he started enjoying those privileges (and ofcourse gave up his military pension). But what is even your point? 3 Likes |

SLIDEwaxie:Why are you comparing Dangote to Buhari? Is Nigeria meant to be run like a Business to minimize cost and maximize personal profit? Don't try to portray Buhari as a skilled business man cos from his speech he seemed not to even know the state of his finances or account An extract "N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please honour it otherwise I may lose the nomination" |

olapluto: Here's his last trip abroad, only two months ago. However, Buhari, the object of the alleged gang-up, meanwhile has travelled abroad for what sources told Saturday Vanguard is a comprehensive medical check up ahead of his declaration for the 2015 presidential contest. Close associates of the general who had earlier chosen September 1 to announce Buhari’s intention to vie for the presidential ticket of the party, were yesterday, said to be contemplating the deferment of the launch on account of the general’s absence. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/2015-presidential-race-cold-war-apc-buhari-rebuffs-younger-presidential-aspirants/#sthash.GUMmfEiZ.AhmFaG5G.dpuf 4 Likes 1 Share |

OP, have our former heads of state started receiving their pensions as enshrined in section 84 (5) of the 1999 Constitution? I remember that recently there was a debate in the National Assembly in which some legislators kicked against the giving of pension for life to those that came to rule Nigeria through coup d'états, as this would encourage democratically elected governments to be overthrown. 2 Likes |

Mogidi: Some of the man's loyalists seem not to know anything about him. I keep wondering how a man who declares openly that Abacha did not steal a dime can be considered honest. Interesting thing is that on one hand, Buhari's fans believe that he is not corrupt and a very honest man, on the other hand, they believe that Abacha is a very corrupt man, the direct opposite of what their hero believes. Very interesting. 5 Likes 1 Share |

The reason for the failure of Jonathan in the next election will be because of the fo.olish.ness of most of his supporters who instead of marketing his program focus on attacking just one man. Unfortunately, for reasons best knowing to God the more they attack this man the more people are sympathetic to his struggle, while my president is losing those who struggle hard for him in 2011. The ignorant supporters created millions of enemies for him for no reason. 2 Likes |

@ OP among the privileges mentioned none is coming as a way of direct cash to this man. That's if we are going to be realistic. I'm nt trying to say that he earns no personal allowance as a former Military ruler or a rtd Major General. Anyway, I'm nt suprise because most discussions on Nairaland are not based on objectivity. 1 Like |
