15 All Progressives Congress members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have been accused of receiving bribe to the tune of N800m to impeach the State Governor, Ayodele Fayose. This allegation was made by a group called Ekiti Democratic Coalition.

The group made this allegation in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Aderemi Olaleye.

It alleged that the lawmakers had a secret meeting with a national leader of the party and a former Governor of the State in Lagos on Tuesday, where the directive and bribe was issued to each of the lawmakers. EDC alleged that each of the lawmakers got N50m while the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, got N100m. He said, “The lawmakers will be hinging the impeachment on the dissolution of Local Councils Caretaker Committee.”

The legislators won't even try it. To start with, fayose enjoys mass acceptance and support among the people of ekiti state and the state legislators would not want to go against the wishes of their constituencies especially with elections coming up next year.
Secondly, if they try it fayose will unleash thugs tacitly aided by the police on them. If fayose can engineer a beat down of judges right in the court premises and with the court in session, what makes the legislators think they can avoid an even more brutal beating if they try to impeach the governor.
Fayose obviously enjoys presidential protection. Any attempt by the state legislators to impeach the governor will inevitably lead to the premature end of their house. They should learn from the case of the rivers state assembly.

The Ekiti state house of Assembly has 7 PDP members, what the jaanjaweeds refused to understand is that in Ekiti house of assembly 7>15+

let them try it and see as PDP elects a new Speaker for the house. Shame to the jaanjaweeds, 7> 15+. After the 15+ would have reeceived the beatings of their lives, their seats will be declared vacant by the Greater 7 and a new speaker elected.
Governor Fayose must hand over to another PDP Governor in 2018.
