The African society is quite decent in conversations. Certain offensive, taboo or vulgar words are often couched in pleasant words called euphemisms, metaphors or innuendoes.

in Yoruba, the following are examles:
o n fewo 'He steals'
o lo gbonse 'He went to the toilet
ewure naa ti gun 'the goat is pregnant'
oba waja The king is dead', etc.
