There is no doubt, somebody has to be our
leader. But honestly, when you look at the
worries, the sleepless nights, the troubles,
the restlessness, the grudges and the
danger that the President, the Governor,
the Minister, the Senator, the Rep, the
Assemblyman, the Commissioner, the
Council Chairman and even the Councilor
go through in Nigeria's troubled political
ocean, and when you now add the stress
coming from the bunch of their family
members including in-laws, school mates,
illegitimate lovers and friends who are
seeing his tenure as their time to have their
share from the national cake, pushing and
pulling him to meet their demands, needs
and for contract, you will wonder whether
becoming a political office holder is really
worth its attendant headache in Nigeria.
But with an ulterior motive and a mindset
to go to the office and loot the treasury, the
turbulence in the ocean of the public office
is nothing to the political animal. In a place
like Nigeria where those in government are
above the law, where people show ego for
nothing but vanities of this world, where
they worship money as their god and
knowing that they will be in control of the
billions of naira which they can spend and
launder the way they like, where nearly
everyone wants to be saluted "rankadede"
with the complex that some, because of
affluence and position, are superior to
others, the advantages of the office must
outweigh its untold disadvantages. Who will
not want to forget the troubles of public
office, when as a President, Governor or
Minister, before you even gets up from your
bed, people are already waiting, filling
visitor's form to see you in your residence,
guests house and your office? And you
suddenly find yourself riding in a convoy of
executive cars and security on a clear road
with your words becoming law.

Nice objections raised but what about possible solutions and the way forward? How can we get it in the right direction?

Politicians must know that they not there just to enrich themselves and family but serving and having interest of the people else, why did they vie for those posts?
