STEVEN Gerrard's missus was left paralysed with fear last night as masked robbers raided the England star's home while she was inside with their two kids.

Four thugs wearing balaclavas burst into the couple's plush mansion at 9.30pm while WAG Alex Curran was inside with daughters Lilly Ella, three, and one-year-old Lexi.

Petrified Curran, 25, clung to her kids as the ruthless mob ransacked the couple's belongings, grabbing handfuls of jewellery before fleeing into the night.

Traumatised but unharmed, Curran was last night being comforted by family members who whisked her and the children away from the lavish home in Formby, Merseyside.

Liverpool skipper Gerrard, 27, was playing for his club in Marseille when the gang struck. He was said to be "devastated" by news of his family's horrifying ordeal.

The chilling raid will fuel fears that Liverpool stars are being ruthlessly targeted whilst they are playing away.

Police denied reports that a gun or a knife was used in the robbery, saying: “No weapon was seen.”

A spokesman for Liverpool FC said the club was shocked to hear the news of Ms Curran’s ordeal.

He said: “Our first concerns are for the welfare of Alex, Steven and the family.

“The club takes this extremely seriously and we will be looking at ways to provide cover for the players’ houses while they are away with the club on domestic and international duty.”

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said forensic examination of the property was taking place today and house to house inquiries have begun.

A police spokeswoman said: “We are investigating a confrontational burglary which took place at around 9.30pm last night.

“Four men, wearing dark clothing, hoods and balaclavas, entered the property and stole items of jewellery.

“We cannot confirm the nature of the confrontation.

“The female resident, and another woman who was in the house at the time, were left shaken but uninjured.”

Six Reds players have now had their homes ransacked in just over 18 months.

Striker DIRK KUYT had his plush pad burgled in November while he was on International duty with Holland.

Thieves stole a BMW and Cadillac from Agger's house on the Wirral and they took valuables from Crouch's home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

In May 2007, keeper PEPE REINA's house was raided as he helped Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final. His Porsche Cayenne car, jewellery, an entertainment system and personal documents were stolen from the house in Woolton.
