Woman Hanged For Killing Man Who'tried To rape Her' Leaves Heartbreaking Message by Mettal: 12:04pm On Nov 03, 2014
A 26-year-old Iranian woman, who was hanged after being convicted of the murder of the man she said tried to rape her, has left a heartbreaking voice message for her mother in the lead-up to her death.

Reyhaneh Jabbari was hanged in a Tehran prison on Saturday morning, an execution described by human rights group Amnesty International as "deeply disappointing in the extreme".

Ms Jabbari was convicted of killing a former intelligence officer. According to the court ruling, she stabbed the man with a pen knife, but Ms Jabbari denied murdering the former intelligence office, protesting that another man in the house had committed the murder.

By this stage, Ms Jabbari had already resigned herself to being sentenced to death, regardless of evidence given in court.

She contacted her mother in April to make sure authorities were clear that she wanted her organs donated, but realised it would be her last message to her, and therefore decided to open up about her traumatic experience of being on death row for five years.

Ms Jabbari claimed her social status played a leading hand in her death, which she had foreseen the moment she was taken into custody

"That ominous night it was I that should have been killed," Ms Jabbari said to her mother in a message translated by Iranian activists. "My body would have been thrown in some corner of the city, and after a few days, the police would have taken you to the coroner's office to identify my body and there you would also learn that I had been raped as well.

"The murderer would have never been found since we don't have their wealth and their power. Then you would have continued your life suffering and ashamed, and a few years later you would have died of this suffering and that would have been that."

Ms Jabbari made it clear to her mother she wanted her organs to be donated.

"I don't want to rot under the soil," she said. "I don't want my eye or my young heart to turn into dust.

"Beg so that it is arranged that as soon as I am hanged my heart, kidney, eye, bones and anything that can be transplanted be taken away from my body and given to someone who needs them as a gift.

"I don't want the recipient to know my name, buy me a bouquet, or even pray for me."
