I have never been this embarrassed all my life. I was at the freewindz album launch couple of weeks back. Before attending the show, I had called the manager of the event who happens to be one Mr Emeka. Called him to let him know that am an artiste manager and currently run a record label here in Lagos. I actually wanted to get him to put my acts on the bill of performers for that night. He said he could not grant that because they already had a choked up list. He however asked that I come around with my artistes to attend and he might probably be able to give some kind of concession to them .On getting there, the whole story changed. He insisted he would not allow them enter since the launch was on and they could only enter after the launch was over.That they could only attend the after party. What was his reason? He simply said it was not time for them to enter. I had to explain to him that it would not be proper for me to leave them outside but all entreaties fell on deaf ears.I had to stand outside for about an hour plus like someone who just strolled into an event he was not invited for. While my acts were being interviewed by the media pips around,I met a young girl who is young enough to be my baby sister.she was wearing a freewindz branded shirt and as such,I guessed she was with them.i walked up to her and explained the whole thing to her and she said she would get back to me. When she finally came out and I walked up to her,she was kind of talking in a rude manner(talking and walking away at the same time).my acts were too angry and decided we should go back home citing the fact that we had been to bigger events than this as guests, so why the embarrassment? In as much as there were several upcoming acts hanging around the premises and doing interviews, I felt I did not deserve to be treated that way.you shouldn’t invite a person to an event an mess him up at the venue;its rubbish. his point was that it wasn’t time for upcoming acts to enter.we finally got in after one of the organizers came out and spoke with me and asked not to be offended.
The main issue here is that,we came to support them and no matter how small,we would have contributed to the launch even though we were not going to donate in millions to them. People should try as much as possible to respect others.launching an album is no big deal so u don’t start acting like u have arrived.u shouldn’t treat people based on popularity.there are connections you will need as u climb to the top and the next man might just be the one to hook you up.
In this industry,u need a lot of humility to get to the top.being on t.v is not a sign to say u are there.my advice to upcoming acts is this:select the right people to handle ur packaging.whatever impression they give is what people will make of you. For me, am quite sure I will not be attending any other event that has to do with them. All the same, I wish them luck.

next time be sure u get invited!!!!!
