The Federal Government has approved the
registration of a research patent
submitted by the Joint Research Team of the
University and Project Development Agency,
(PRODA), Enugu. It would be recalled that on
assumption of duty in 2011, the administration of
the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.C. C. Asiabaka reviewed
the operations of the World Bank funded
research initiative: the STEP-B PROJECT. A
new Management Team headed by Prof. F. C.
Eze, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) was
subsequently re-constituted to effectively co-
ordinate the approved researches.
The STEP-B Project recently entered into a
joint collaboration research arrangement with
PRODA, to conduct joint research. This reaserch
collaboration between the two institutions has
resulted in an invention known as “TEST RIG
OF INTEGRATED BIO REACTORS FOR
ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF ORGANIC
WASTE”. This invention has been successfully
patented with the Federal Ministry of Science and
Technology.
The FUTO Research Team that achieved this
remarkable feat include the following; Engr Prof.
E. E. Anyanwu, Prof. E. N. O Ejike, Engr Dr.
Nnamdi Ogueke and Mr Michael Onwukwe
The Vice-Chancellor has congratulated the
researchers for bringing honour to the University
by this feat.
