Due to their contribution to the Federation Account, solid minerals producing states like oil producing states of Niger Delta will now begin to enjoy 13 per cent derivation from the federation revenues. Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Elias Mbam, made the disclosure when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, who paid an oversight visit to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

Mbam said the commission’s close working relationship with the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development yielded the result with the mining sector for the first time now contributing to the Federation Account. He added that a sharing template was being worked out in favour of the concern states.

The states are but not limited to Benue, Bauchi, Sokoto, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Ogun, Taraba, Kaduna, Kwara, Enugu, Zamfara, Kogi, Gombe, Osun, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, among others.
