The fact that Christian population of the saved is a fraction of the world’s total population calls for concern. Jesus Christ will not be happy to harvest just a few number of souls at his coming. This is where street evangelism comes in.
Street evangelism is very easy to organize. Just a few faithful, vigorous Christians between eight and ten will suffice. You need between two to four horn speakers and two loudspeakers, and of course enough microphones for your singers. Wherever this is not available, you may go in twos with a powerful megaphone of up to forty watts. This will effectively cover an area of four hundred metres.
Your message should meet the present need of people if you want them to be saved. Jesus always meet the needs of His followers before inviting them to his kingdom. All of you must be full of the Holy spirit and be very careful about holy living to avoid spiritual casualty.
Children will definitely be the first to give you attention. Their parents are likely to be watching from a distance on the balconies but if you persist in the area, you will not be surprised to see their mothers coming too. It is not wise to stay on a street for more than two or three times.
For the smaller street evangelism i.e using just a megaphone, you can go as many times as you can possibly have during the week. We often choose Sunday evenings around 5.00pm to 7.00pm for the mini crusades. This is the time many families will be resting at home and the streets will be quiet. The inefficiency of the public power supply will be an unexpected advantage. People will rather come out to watch you display than to sit down in their sitting rooms doing nothing.
You will have no opposition if you choose places where you will not be infringing on peoples movements, property, right to worship and privacy rights. Therefore brothers and sisters gather yourselves together for the great commission. The coming of the Lord is at hand. Shalom
