One of the leading human right activists in Nigeria and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana has blamed the emergence of the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram on the manipulations of Religion by the Nigerian leaders.

Speaking at The 7th Annual Emeritus Professor D. A Ijalaye, SAN Distinguished Personality Lecture at the Obafemi Awolowo University which also doubled as the 50th Service Anniversary to celebrate the Nigerian first Emeritus Professor of Law who has achieved greatly both in his Law profession and academics, Femi Falana pointed accusing fingers at the Political leaders in the country who has introduced religion greatly into the secular constitution of the nation.

In the course of his lecture delivery, he pointed out that the Islamic sect was coined out to serve religious purposes until the then Governor of Borno state, Ali Modu-Sheriff sought the support of the Group during the 2003 general election which in turn promised them a place in his Government which he eventually fulfilled.

He pin-pointed a deal gone-sour between the former governor and the sect which eventually led to the invasion of the colony of the sect by the Nigerian Army during the Late President Yar’Adua regime which resulted in the murder of the leader of the sect as the genesis of the sect's fatality. Just immediately after then, the sect declared war on the nation and unleashed terror on her citizens.

Falana who lamented the current security state of the nation blamed President Jonathan for going ahead with plans to declare his intention to seek re-election some hours after scores of students were killed in a blast in Yobe. He however urged Great Ife students to take their future by their own hands as the general election draws nearer. "A threat to the people of the North East is a threat to all of us", he submitted.

The annual Personality Lecture organised by the Equity Chamber, Obafemi Awolowo University had the big wigs in the Law profession and outside present including Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the governor of The State of Osun who was represented by his Special Adviser on Legal Matters; Hon. Justice Amina Adamu Augie, JCA, CON, the President of the National Industrial Court; the Dean Faculty of Law and many others.

So true. Some men are indeed honorable saying the truth without hiding under the guise of religion nor tribalism; the bane of the Nigerian society.

Just when he was about to get it right and make us believe he is not playing partisan activism.

How can someone who said this turn around to blame Jonathan just in one statement, why not blame the Northern elders who first brought sharia into the country and then with the born to rule mentality brainwashed their already brainless youth to be used for their evil political agenda, telling them they are fighting for allah, they almost infiltrated the SW with same mentality.

Jonathan can go ahead and hold declaration or whatever party, NE is not the only region in Nigeria, the SW have muslims just like other regions have both Christians and Muslims, if they decide to destroy their home for one silly reasons, it's all a welcome development, after all it's Nigerian killing Nigerians.

Pls who coined this group to serve their religous purposes?
Why is no body calling for the head of those that coined it at first place?

Too manythings are out of order in this nation.
