You are hardly remembered if you die for Nigeria. Fact. Nigeria can't even account for of its dead soldiers. Go to the United States, there are war memorials. There is the Vietname Veterans Memorial. On the walls are the names of the Americans who died during the war inscribed.
There is the National World War II Memorial with 56 pillars.
There is the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
There is the Arlington National Cemetery where war veterans are buried. This is also the place where the late President J. F. Kennedy and his wife are buried.
Somebody once said that if you compare the ECOMOG section of Atan Cemetery, Yaba with Arlington in the United States, you will hate to die for Nigeria.
The names of the memorials I gave you are the ones in Washington DC and Virginia.
You speak as if the solution to this war lies on building memorials for soldiers, when it suits you guys you use America and the West as an example, have you ever research on the behaviourial pattern of an Average American during wars? The encourage their soldiers by way of praises, they help the government propaganda machine online,by posting news of military successes rather than their failures,in other to demoralise the enemies, youths walk to Military headquarters seeking to be enlisted into the force regardless of any benefit, they think America first, they forget if they are republicans or democrats.Dont forget the Vietnam war which America tactically withdrew because it became a grave yard of American soldiers and yet they were all thinking America first.
Our case is even more serious because you are fighting an enemy from within and you try as much as possible to limit collateral damages.
You mentioned JF Kennedy in your post but you forgot to give us his notable quote and advice to American youths,i quote him 'do not think about what your country can do for you but rather think about what you can do for America'.

You don't understand what I posted. The essence of bringing in the memorials in the US is to show how their soldiers could be made to shnw petriotism if anything happens to them in war. Every American soldiers knows he is honoured if he dies in war.

Have you asked yourself why our soldiers, while on UN peacekeeping mission do well; but when defending their country (like the ongoing war with Boko Haram) perform badly? Is it that they are not petriotic? Have you asked yourself if the UN arms them better?

Comparing an external peace-keeping mission to a guerrilla warfare fueled by religious fanaticism is just wrong. They don't have similar magnitude.

I think it is rather unfair to "mourn" or "heroise" only the ranking officers... no one hears about the "no/low rank" officers that die.. they are also HEROES

Atiku has declared he is RUNNING in 2015. Kwankwaso is also RUNNING....Buhari is RUNNING as well...Goodluck Jonathan will RUN...Amaechi said he has interest in RUNNING. Oshiomole has also declared he is ready to RUN. Rochas Okorocha is also set to RUN. Tambuwal is ready to RUN too. Fashola self wan RUN for VP, Alameiseigha could RUN for Senate. My questions are:
1. Where are they RUNNING to?
2. Who is pursuing them?
3. Do we have Olympics in Nigeria in 2015?
4. Is it 100m or 200m race? Abi na Marathon?
5. Which stadium are they using?
6. What about you reading this, Won't you RUN?
Please after reading this ...start RUNNING and don't look back..Because me too am also running. keep running to make Naija better.

The truth is that it's only Igbos and some ss people who see this war as Northerners' war rather than Nigerian war. Keeping it real.
Arch1:
This soldier is a Northerner, he died fighting for his country against Boko Haram the same way several Northerners who make up the CivilianJTF died while fighting against Boko Haram.

Many Northern Islamic cleric have been killed because they preached /spoke against Boko Haram e.g Ibrahim Birkuti, Liman Bana, Sheikh Adam Albani etc.

The Northerners have been the worst affected by Boko Harams terror yet some people still wrongly and ignorantly accuse them of being Boko Haram supporters. Its high time we see this war against Boko as a Nigerian problem and not Northern problem alone.

RIP to the soldier.

Try not to compare Nigerian soldiers to american soldiers.

Almost every Nigerian Has a bitter brutal memory of bruising encounter from a soldier or policeman either first hand, know/see a victim.

Most those N50 we get robbed of everytime you come across them at the check points only make you see them as uniformed armed robbers.

I won't say all solders are guilty of this crime but if you lived in the south uniformed personnel are just above armed robbers on the totem pole of hatred. Now the decades of decay in morals and professionalism is pretty obvious hopefully they won't have to meet a real army soon or we are all toast.

Mind you Abacha is six feet below the sea level now and you should realise that visiting the pope can't save you. Change your ways for good.

Typing RIP won't change anything. Let us charge the government to live up to their duty by providing arms ammuinition for our soldiers and officers to defend us.

Are the soldiers not armed? Which soldier faces combatants like B.H without being armed?
The truth and the fact is that in a war situation as this insurgency, some soldiers will sacrifice their lives for Nigeria
It is the grim bitter truth in soldiering

This is not an issue of just being armed, but being armed with sophisticated weapons and gadgets. Have you seen an American soldiers with gadgets on the battle front?

I still stand on my previous point though I think posting an ad for a 18M car in a page for mourning a soldier who can't afford it with 3 year savings is insensitive
