this "dumbest" poster, as you call him, know what happens around the world and i know that SA is just being reluctantly added to the BRICs. It is "BRIC" not "BRICS"! Fact is, SA doesn't look like the BRIC countries. This is something that can be verified independently. SA has a low growth rate to be included in the grouping coined by the Goldman Sachs's economist. They don't even have the population like the others, and this means they economy may have peaked already. The other people's economy have not reached it's peak yet and there is still a very big room for growth. SA was reluctantly included in the BRICs just for regional representation and this was at the time it was official that they are the largest economy on the continent.

So does that change the fact that we're a BRICS member and you're not? No it doesn't.

So what's your point? None

this shows that Nigerian GDP means nothing to south Africa.......

Nigeria's GDP is fake. Why do its citizen runaway from $510Billion economy? Somewhere somehow, things are not the way the say they are. Besides, only nigeria provides economic data to World bank. Its another way to misinform the public.

Unemployment is said to be 7.5% in Nigeria, thats a lie, if they can lie about their unemployment rate, so they will lie about their economy. Not many people trust anything that cones out of nigeria.

- Would you invest your money in areas where Boko Haram operates?
- Would you invest money in an area under a drug cartel?

Yes or No

Woolworth proved that NIGERIAN economy is non existant, 3 stores failed but woolworth has 2000 stores in SA that are profitable.
Fake economy, paper economy. They thought by claimingbthe biggest status, would attract more investors. Wrong

G20 is supposed to have Nigeria as the only African nation in their midst due to the huge GDP but they decide to go with South Africa. Possibly, Thambo Mbeki lobbies to be a member based on China's invitation. However, G20 is not so much relevant to Nigeria like the developed nations. When you see South Africa with its meager GDP in such an economic block you would know something is wrong somewhere.

Go Nigeria, the true GIANT of Africa.

SA shopping is already saturated by Townships money. The money from the people living in the ghetto cannot make up for huge profit like Shoprites is making from Nigeria. Within a very short period of time it has succeeded in making more profit in Nigeria than South Africa in relative term.

Opinion =/= Fact

Facts on the ground remain the same, SA in the G20 and Nigeria is nowhere.

Do you know what makes Shoprite Africa's largest retailer? Black South Africans from the townships.

Where are your own retailers that make money in Nigeria? None, do you know why? you're not a big market. You might be many by figures but you're poor than South Africans in purchasing power.

Your country is serving your Russian master in G20 without having any voice to speak in any agenda. What is worst than that ? All in the name of being in an economic group. Please, Nigeria doesn't need developing nations to succeed.

You should look at the turnover and profits of the 23 shops and compare them with the ones in South Africa. You would definitely know that Nigeria is the true GIANT. Not only that we consume the finest wines more than your people.

Are you serious? Nigeria have more retail outlets better than Shoprites. In fact, if your overrated shops fold up we will bring in Wall Marts and other developed nations retailers. Nigeria is to big for petty Shoprites though. We aren't talking about Townships here but the richest nation in Africa. Can you beat that?! Jeez!

The "overrated" South African retailers are the biggest in the continent.... they were the biggest even before they went to Nigeria...

Are you trying to say we can't deal squarely with your overrated and acclaimed Africa largest retailer,Shoprite? Please, you are not telling the truth about that retailer. It doesn't have up to 2000 shops in South Africa in the first place. I have visited the website and the outlets are not in thousands.

Bwahaha... Nigeria has retailers, like Silverbird, etc which are large but might not be larger than some Shoprite stores. The size you are talking about came when they started entering the Nigerian market. Please, give the credit to Nigerians for saving it from being a local retailer in Townships to entering the largest economy in Africa. We are feeding you without you knowing it. You will thank me for that one day!

to those who think they have any reason at all or that they are a moral authority to look down on Nollywood, i want you to listen to Zarch Orji speak to you when he spoke on the now defunct BBC Africa Have Your Say programme.

"we don't want to win an Oscar...we just want to make movies a people can relate to; we want to make movies people would watch and see themselves in it....we want to tell our stories ourselves..." until Nollywood came out, Africa's stories were told by other people. The reason no one sees you people as monkeys anymore is because of Nollywood.

A movie industry tells a story, exports a culture and benefits those in it. We can see all of these in Nollywood but can't say the same for your movies, if you actually have one at all.

Nollywood tells a story a people can watch and relate to. It exports a culture that has taken over the whole of the continent and even in the carribean. There is what i call cultural imperialism going on on the continent today. Nigerian accent is immitated by everyone around the continent. Our dress sense and traditional attire are admired and worn all across the continent. Our actors and actresses are known all over. They are a cultural icon! We cannot say the same for your oscar actors and actresses. Our actors and actresses are richer than your oscar comedians!

Nollywood inspires ans sets up other movie industries across the continent, most notably, the movie industry in Ghana as well as other countries like Kenya, Seria Leone etc. What have your's done?
its good to tell African stories, but tell them in a quality way........south Africa released a Venda which tells a story about venda people.........due to quality screening, sound and professionalism of the actors also with a big budget.........the movie its been nominated for the Oscar so what do you say about that?
