JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES


 Storage/SAN Administrator will be responsible for design, installation, setup, and administration of current and future
storage systems in a 24x7x365 environment
 The Administrator will work with team members including infrastructure engineers, data base administrators,
software development engineers and business liaisons to obtain data and storage requirements and deliver
solutions
 The engineer will demonstrate an ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and thorough with primary responsibilities to
include the storage area network (SAN) environment with secondary responsibilities for tape backup / archive
storage configuration and maintenance
 Duties include the planning and implementation of SAN infrastructure, troubleshooting of performance and availability,
identification and acquisition of tools, and ongoing capacity trend analysis
 Manage and support SUN Tape Library system in a SAN environment
 Use and support of Veritas NetBackup 6.0 for data enterprise backup.
 Work with infrastructure owners to test and verify data archives
 Schedule backup jobs based on documented procedures and schedules
 Manage SUN VTL infrastructure
 Manage and support NetApp storage infrastructure
 Work closely with the IT Manager team to define and implement standard practices for our UNIX environment and
users
 Ensure UNIX Systems Security
 Install and Configure Solaris OS
 Install and configure SUN Hardware Systems
 Perform system administration support for Unix servers
 Documentation of procedures and practices
 Must be able to work in a team environment

JOB SKILLS


 Minimum of three years experience as a SAN Administrator with at least two years supporting a highly available 24x7
production environments.
 Knowledge of NetApp storage devices
 Experience working with SUN storage devices including VTL systems
 Ability to configure and manage Brocade switches
 Knowledge of HBAs configuration on Solaris, Windows and Linux Servers
 Knowledge of Veritas Storage Foundation.
 Knowledge of Veritas NetBackup Enterprise server.
 Ability to plan and configure storage space and make it available to Solaris Windows and Linux servers.
 Demonstrated history of superior customer service
 Professional demeanor appropriate for mature enterprise.
 Willing to work Long hours and Sometimes Weekends
 Knowledge of shell and Perl scripting.
 Knowledge of Sun hardware and Solaris operating systems are highly desired.
 Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and prioritize between them.
 Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.
 Ability to work with minimal supervision.
 Excellent teamwork. Candidate must be proactive and solution-oriented.
 Strong documentation skills

QUALIFICATIONS

 Bachelor degree/HND in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent. Equivalent combinations of
education and experience may be considered.
 SNIA or vendor storage certifications from HP, EMC, Hitachi, StorageTek, Sun or NetApp strongly preferred.
 3 Years minimum experience in architecting and engineering enterprise class storage solutions in a distributed
environment.
 Years minimum working in a Systems Administrator related role on Solaris and Windows Server Systems
 3 Years minimum supporting storage design and recovery solutions for multiple large database installations
 2 Years Implementing and Supporting NetBackup Enterprise Solution
 2 Years working experience with SUN Hardware Platform and Tape Libraries
 2 Years Support Solaris 2.x Operating System
 2 Years Supporting Red Hat or other Enterprise Linux Systems
