But there can never be a new stint to a line that has been used too much, especially in poetry where words (diction) are selected carefully.

My argument is, if you want to use old lines, modify them. Don't use them in the same way they have been used for decades. No line is original in the real sense of the word, but a gifted poet would know how to modify old lines and make it look original. ORIGINALITY is very important in poetry. You can't steal old lines and put them together and call it a poem. It is crap.

No poet would write a love verse and include common lines like these:

'I will love you like my mother
I will love you like my sister
I will never hit you...'

WTF...

I am sorry if I sound worked up. But as a poet, I hate to see mediocre poets all over the place.
