Re: Federal University Of Agriculture,Abeokuta(FUNAAB) 2015/2016 Admission. by Dariye(m): 3:30am On Jan 11, 2017
My attention has been drawn to a new directive by the federal government to ban all specialised universities (universities of agriculture, universities of technologies) from running courses that is not reflected in their names (e.g Law and Accountancy).

This is a good news as well as a sad news but that is another topic entirely.

My main concern however, is the fate of the current students as well as recently admitted students(which i happen to be one) into these departments, should the development be duely effected?

I would appreciate if you guys(staylites or any other more informed member) could shed more light on this issue for clarity sake.

Thank you in anticipation of a prompt response.

As a freshman, I believe you really want to know how things are been done in Funaab. Right from the day one as a fresher till you become a bold staylite. cool

You definitely want to know what you're about to encounter as a fresher. You need awareness. cool

And to the staylites. just relax and enjoy. cheesy cheesy

Below is a piece about the journey so far in Funaab, as narrated by me. Do take your time and enjoy as it promises to be fun at the same time. kiss kiss

Note: I released this in episodes. Below is the first episode.

I remain your humble wordsmith, PHENOL.

Episode One

Though I've always been to 'Unaab' even before I officially became a student of the federal school, but how _rough an academic session can go dawned on me as we moved down the calendar, just this session. lipsrsealed

Hey! before I continue, do ensure you take your time as this promises to be very interesting. I tell you!
This is more like a diary, so expect it in a couple of episodes. cool

Since Exam is gone, and the workload is apparently lifted for a while; it's a divine opportunity to reminisce on the past events!

Shall we start from the Genesis? cheesy

I can barely remember how it went down on the day of post UTME, but I can hardly forget the awesome feeling after the results were released.

Post Utme gone
Result checked
Admission granted

Fast forward to my first day in the department, the first figure I met was a sister- _a typical one without earrings. Her appearance made me suddenly thought the word of God was right in front of me in the form of human. She looked so innocent! smiley

She gave me some hints about the registration so far, as she was way further than me in the registration process.
I met a couple of the new family afterwards, that same day. The euphoria was boldly written on their faces.

The empathy and the optimism possessed by the _computer guys_ that filled the streets that led to the school summarized the level of hustle in Funaab-

_you go fear hustle_. grin

I was daunted by the rate of their productivity.
I knew I was going to patronize one, and possibly some of them; for the computer works of my precious documents.
Back to the registration proper.
*
I never knew the deal I was getting into; though I knew registration could be so hectic, but not this arduous! Boy! Was the registration an epitome of stress!- a fact attributable to the population size.
It got to some extent where you have to exchange drinks for the stamp and signatures. Only the ones with some _bucks_ do the smooth workout at those stages, it was fun anyway. We got so familiar with our administrators within a little time. Most of them were friendly, I'll admit. What a great department and college as a whole!. I'll never end this chapter without acknowledging the efforts of the department students' association executives in all ramifications as well.
*
_soft days_ rolled into _solid weeks_ of registration.. cry cry

Fast forward to the stage of medicals- the most frustrating stage.

Without prejudice, not a single coordinator or medical practitioner in the centre interested me. sad angry
The most annoying part is the part where you have to transport your *excreta to school in tiny bottles. As if the urine was not enough, they needed the stools likewise- unlike my previous school, where only the urine is required for the medicals.
I just imagined how everyone managed to get their stools into the tiny bottles because it wasn't easy on my part. I wonder how the pretty ladies did theirs too, and kept the bottles so clean on the outside..

I entered the clinic with my specimens wrapped in tough polythene nylons that very day, just to hear a coordinator's voice from behind. 'Hey boy, take off the nylons, and bring them out'. I wasn't too surprised because I saw almost everyone seated next to their naked specimen.
_you go fear packaging_

I was going to sit beside my naked specimens too anyway.
Back on the part of the medical practitioners; they were so strict! Some were even harsh. They wouldn't manipulate even the simplest part of their reforms for any reason whatsoever. They reminded everyone of his/her secondary school days, regardless of the age. cheesy

CUT!*

And who wouldn't have something to say about the events of the just concluded academic session?

Of course, the session has proved it's uniqueness in so many ways over the months, most especially the just concluded semester.

_...to be continued_
