please muyesky I would love u to post pix of how you want to do the base of the septic tank and explainations.thanks

Sealing the base of the septic tank:
1. Drain out existing and flowing water from the tank with a pumping machine
2. Pack out already settled mud
3. Introduce hollow blocks to the base in a bed like form
4. Cut planks to size of the tank to form a bed on the already laid blocks. This is to lift the base of the ground
5. Introduce a man hole that will serve as the means to suck out water after casting the base
6. Introduce granite to all edges around the tank to serve as blockage for any missed hole
7. Introduce polythene to cover the laid bed as a form of preventing any leakages
8. Mix sand, granite, normal cement and water sealant together and cast away.

Once dried up, the man hole will be used to suck out water thoroughly and eventually blocked off to give an even, perfect and leak free septic tank. The same process applies to the second one.

mr muyesky thanks for the enlightenment but my question is this. from the construction process that you showed us that mean the blocks and wooden planks will be left under the base casting which means with time the planks will rot away or how. just enlighten me more.thanks

Yes, in the long run it will but the casting on the board itself has already formed affinity with the solid surrounding walls which happens to be the intended purpose. Water cannot even get to the casting itself again. This is as a result of waterproof polythene and cement already in the mixture. The wood is just a one off function. I hope this satisfies you sir? smiley

Thank you Boss... following all the work. Keep it up.
Please don't forget to show your students the "Void Windows/Roofing" when it's done.

Oga Muyesky,
I did a septic tank in a waterlogged area just like you did, but mine is leaking at the edge. I have tried to use waterproof cement to stop the leakage to no avail. Please what else can i do to savage the situation.

My apologies for the delay in response sir. The leakage is as a result of not the polyethylene bag not covering the edges very well if at all it was used. If really you have followed the steps I highlighted on the stages then the only thing left is to create another man hole to suck out water before using the water cement again. That should work.
