Continuing A Pdp-led Government Will End Insurgency- Borno PDP by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 11:43pm On Nov 18, 2014
Mohammed Wakil, the Borno PDP state leader suggested at the PDP stakeholders' meeting in Borno that continuing with Goodluck Jonathan's anti-terrorism strategy and a PDP-led government will end insurgency in the country. He reasons that changing the hands of power now in Nigeria will spoil the work in progress already done by Goodluck Jonathan in curbing terrorist activities-

Stakeholders of Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State on Tuesday said the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 would bring an end to the activities of terrorists in the country.

Rising from a stakeholders meeting in Maiduguri, the elders and leaders said a change in strategy, which a new administration might introduce, would allow the violence in the region to drag unnecessarily.

Throwing their support behind the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, especially the extension of the state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, the party stalwarts promised to do everything to ensure the success of Jonathan in the 2015 election.

“We met again after our successful outing on Monday. We discussed many issues but specifically we restated our support for Mr. President both on his re-election and the ongoing anti- terror operations. We rededicate ourselves to wresting power from the APC in Borno and commend the security agencies for their enormous sacrifices in the anti – terror war,” the stakeholders told journalists through the party leader in the state and Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil.

“We are convinced that Mr. President is doing all things humanly possible to bring insurgency to an end. Moreover, we commend the President over his pledge to recapture all occupied territories and rebuild the North-East after the war.”

Wakil explained that the stakeholders were convinced that only the continuity of a PDP-led Federal Government could accelerate the defeat of terror activities in the North-East, adding, “The state cannot afford new experiment capable of worsening the ongoing conflicts."

Those that attended the meeting included the former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; Dr Shettima Mustapha, Alhaji Abba Gana, Mohammed Kumalia and Alhaji Musa Kareto.
