These tips can help you get through broken relationships.

1. Handle yourself with care The emotional trauma that follows some break- up usually leaves people feeling like they are physically ill. So it’s important you treat yourself with care. Get good rest, eat healthy food try to get as much good sleep as possible.

2. Get some help Some; break-ups are sudden and you may not have had any sign that it was coming. This may leave you in shock, shattered, and uncoordinated. You might need to call for help at this time. Call someone close who can advice or be a source of comfort to you.

3.Talk things through; There is a saying that ‘a problem shared is half solved’. You need to confide in people; share the problem with them. You can talk about it over and over again as this will make the worst of your feelings to gradually lose their hold on you.

4. Make a list of good things about you; Sometime people lay blame on themselves for break-ups and this eventually leads to more trauma, as the person may feel he or she is worthless. So to fight such feelings, make a list of many good things about you- as much as you can remember. Add to that list on a daily basis and this will in no time help improve your self-esteem.

5. Hide photos/reminders Hide anything, especially pictures that will remind you of them at least until your emotions are healed. This is because it is not helpful to keep seeing images of your beloved who just broke your heart. Some people might want to destroy all those images as they may not be able to stand them. The best thing to do if you are temperamental may be to give them to your friend or a close relative to keep them. You may need them when you have gotten over the whole thing.

6. No sex with your ex! There may come a time when your ex comes around may be to sort out some things. You might enter a deep level conversation and before you realize it, you are hugging and kissing each other, and anything can follow. The sad truth however is that having sex with an ex will only confuse and upset you further, especially if your ex leaves immediately afterwards, which is very likely indeed.

7. Exercise; Exercise is one of the best ways to get over your ex, because it's a great way to let off steam and de-stress. Also, increased physical activity releases endorphins, which are chemicals in your brain that lift mood. If you can't face the gym, try walking, swimming or dancing. The last is particularly good because you will have fun and may well make new friends.
