I have a question maybe its because I haven't been on CNN or BBC lately or because no Americans are involved but why was the Mumbai situation so well braodcasted in the news but this stuff is not? I think maybe the government might have shame and help people if the international community was more aware.

You answered your own questions. Do you know how many bombings happen in the middle east, without all the publicity like on the Mumbai situation.
Spread more hate for the Muslims in the western world, by showing them kill westerners.

Its not his family that is separating besides, i will wish for division into two nations i.e North and south because fragmenting Nigeria into many pieces will bring our economy to a halt.

Strategic interests are at play my brother, remember the Afghan war? the taleban and the axis of evil? on a side not, the wahala between Pakistan and India is as much as the wahala between the North and other areas in Nigeria.

Same problem of brainwashing the illiterate local population with hate for anything they perceive to be against Islam. I won't be quick to lay the blame at the feet of Islam as there are nice and peaceful muslims but we all know we also have our ultra christian fanatics a-la Rev King and the various Born again business men (sorry, I meant pastors) with their various heresies. Redhotchicito,

herein lies the Nigerian puzzle and the difficulty in arriving at a consensus? do you have any idea how many slices the other folks like Dave want to slice the Nigerian entity into? afterall, our dear nation is now sliced bread abi na pizza? are you even sure at the stage we are in, the Ekitis don't want their own nation (afterall Botswana has a population of just 1.7 million).
But ponder awhile and ask yourself this question, who are you to split what you did not create and also dictate how it is to be split?
No offence meant o, yu are still my favourite vixen on this forum and I don't want you to go the way of Sarah Palin.
Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by onyengbu1(m): 9:45pm On Dec 01, 2008

This is absolutely stupid and senseless, what point are this hoodlums trying to get across by killing innocent people?

it's actually true that illiteracy is a decease and I still believe we need a dynamic and proactive action to liberate this nation.

I believe the Fight is Over now and Nigeria is still United, Once in a while you must have ethnic or religious violence but not forgetting the fact that Nigeria is still a peaceful nation, I am from the south and happen to have travelled a lot around the country and i must not fail to point out the fact that as much as the easternerns have always desired to have their own country, it is totally unfair to the rest of the Nation, Greed has eaten up with every 1 of the geo-political zones and nobody is innocent, Stop pointing fingers and lets look for a solution, People here talking about what happened in 1966 don't even know what happened, all they know is they would have had their own, GREED ALL OVER AGAIN, Stop the HATE,

While I am all for a political resolution of the current quagmire
diseasing our polity. . . .

I put it to those of the Igbo ilk who are vociferously calling for the immediate
dissolution of the Nigerian entity as presently constituted, that due to the
intrepid peregrenating nature of the Igbo man and woman, a political
dissolution will not necessarily result in the inward migration of those that
have flown the nest.

Essentially, the status quo will be maintained

Not at all, after all the old USSR was created by Stalin and scattered by Gorbachev. My point is that there are a lot of stakeholders in this project called Nigeria and that an individual's opinion might become totally irrelevant or ridiculous if rigidly adhered to without giving room to hear other opinions. I was only requesting that my dear Redhotchic ponder awhile before going totally gung-ho on the idea of splitting up Nigeria. Even if we are going to break up, I would prefer a peaceful and negotiated breakup.

The govt should be held responsible. Take the instance of Edo verdict, there were enough security men, why wasnt that the case here. Yes you can say it local govt but does it matter, and to hear that the signs were already there is painful. May God grant the souls of those lost(innocent ones) peace and the Families as well, especially that of the corps member. I also feel that thing called NYSC should be scraped. I cant imagin the lives of those ladies, a sight that  will always reoccur in their lives.

dis thing isn't nu 2 me, i'm a full blooded christian and hav seen hw d bible is interpreted and reinterpreted by many preachers,
d problem isn't islam its d wicked and cold hearted people who use it to incite people and control their minds to do such acts of wickedness jus lyk in Jos and Mumbai,
d brainwashing had been going on for many years all it needed was a torch to blow it up and that is what d election did, to set up another round of ethnic and religious cleansing jus like it happened in yugoslavia and most of africa, it only shows the wickedness of our elders who call themselves our leaders and their backwardness, also i blame those fighting whether northern or eastern who are tagging this as a religious war or whatever, i felt nigerians were more fun loving and easy going people than to be allowing themselves to be used for another man's vendetta against some set of people for some reasons best known to them,

You sounded so stupid with your excuse of greed. First of all, tell us which ethnic group you belong to in the so called south. It's not enough to lump yourself as a southerner. Don't be ashamed of your ethnic group, open up and tell us. Stop using "i am from the south" as a cover up. Igbos wanting their own country is unfair to you nigerians in which aspect? But when we say that you guys rely on us for your own survival, you will want to cry because of the truth. You guys only need us in the same country with you so you can be benefiting from our enterprise spriit and be answering the same country's name with us without contributing anything.

What has Igbos wanting their own country got to do with your own ethnic group also wanting your own country so that you can manage yourselves on your own very way? Do we stop you from developing at your own pace? Why do you so much want to live in the same county with the Igbos? All you nigerians want is to stall the Igbo people's development in the name of living together in one country while calling Igbo's push for secession a greed. Does that not sound silly and idiotic?
Stop pointing fingers when your masters are killing Igbo on daily bases through religious riots. Yorubas are crying now because it have affected them this time around. I know none of your ethnic person have ever falling victim to this awusa gworo madness, so that's why it must be business as usual for you just as it was for the Yorubas earlier on. Ewu awusa tell us which ethnic group you belong.

isnt this typically Nigerian.

still no valid discussion on the causes and prevention of this type of madness which makes blacks in general and Nigerians in particular prone to kill each other over any flimsy excuse.

Instead we're here debating anything but the real issues.

You are right tpia, though I do disagree with the references to the black race as the Irish were fighting and detonating bombs not so long ago due to differences between Catholicsm and Protestantism while Sarajevo is also fresh in the memory and what of the Sunnis and shites in iraq, Kurds in Turkey e.t.c.
Small mindednes if you ask me, hence Jonanthan Swift's depiction of the Lilliputians going to war over whether to break an egg from the small end or the big end.

The Homo Sapiens specie does have a tendency to self destruction but it is not specific to those characterised by the abundance of melanin pigmentation in the skin, to believe otherwise is to swallow some bigoted caucasian's belief of them being a superior race.

I'm not sure if this is what tpia had in mind but here are my suggestions:

Short term: Tougher legislature and law enforcement to prevent such massive loss of life when chaos like this ensue

Medium term: Convocation of an SNC and other talkshops to restructure our polity with the ultimate emergence of a true Nigerian constitution by Nigerians for Nigerians which considers all aspects of our diversity.

Long term: Elimination of the almajiri culture and provision of Universal basic education for all with adequate civics instruction to provide a true national orientation.
Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by sealworld(m): 1:17am On Dec 02, 2008
we are Nigerians and we must face our problems in the original Naija way. the solution to prevent this kind of occurance is POWER SHARING. I believe if we understand that starting from our home and extending it to the national level, it will help avert crisis like this. this occurance can happen anywhere. it can happen when a particular group or region is pushed to the wall.

lets us save our face from the international communities by avoiding any action that could lead to violence.
let us learn to see each other like brothers.
To The Northeners, you fellow brothers (even almajiris) are living freely across the southern part of this country even when we have our own crisis.

Josboy, you sound as if u lost the election. take heart and encourage ur group to try again
