Equity Research Analysts follows stocks and make recommendations on whether to buy, sell, or hold securities using fundamental analysis. Equity Analysts typically focus on one sector and will cover up to 20 companies stocks at any given time. Equity Research is a very challenging job where an analyst may be required to spend more than 12-14 hours a day. For other people like investment advisors and brokers, these are the people for experts having knowledge of shares and bonds. Depending upon the Buy side or sell side analysts work differs. In buy side they work for hedge funds, mutual funds and in sell side they work for research firms where clients are advised for investments. Equity Research firms include J.P, Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Nomura, Motilal Oswal, Indian Infoline etc.
