Constant lateness could be more harmful than you think when considering the several psychological effects it has on you. You may not begin to see the negative effect of going to that meeting or date on a later time, but over time, the habit begin to cause a degradation with how you handle your life. It is important that you consider or picture how you react or what your mood is like, each time you are late for an event, for work or for a meeting.

Now, compare that condition to the one where you are about 10 or 20 minutes early. With that comparison, you'll begin to see the huge differences between both conditions and the many sagging effects that constant lateness can have on you. It's either confidence vs the lack of it or composure vs the lack of it. Here, we'll be analyzing the several things that can happen to you when you constantly indulge in that lateness habit of yours. It can be more dangerous than you can ever imagine.

1. Lack of stablity.

You may not see it, but you know it. When you're late for work or a meeting, how stable do you become. It is a well known fact that lateness comes with rushing and uneasiness which usually translates into a lack of stability. The more you indulge in lateness, the more your mind will become accustomed with your instabilty and you start to find that instability in your work and the way you handle issues in your life. It's a chain process, and the only way to regain your stability will be to reverse the action - that is, desisting from that lateness habit of yours.

2. Increased forgetfulness.

This is another bad sign that comes with constant lateness. Because lateness comes with a lack of organization, you'll begin to find out that this disorganization will cause you to forget things. You may begin by forgetting your work brief in the back seat of your car. Then, an important anniversary of a loved one, then an important contract defence. It becomes more dangerous as it creeps in more into your life. If you still have an active work life, I'll advice that you take your time seriously. Go early than the time and you'll ease yourself off any consequence or negative effect that comes with lateness.

3. Lack of patience

Another one is the lack of patience. With constant lateness also comes uneasiness and constant rushing. Check this. Lateness will push you to do a work of 30 minutes in just 5 minutes. This doesn't only make you impatient, but also affects the quality of your work and relationships.

4. Heightened tension.

How tensed do you feel? How fidgety are you whenever you indulge in lateness? You have to be careful that your lateness does not grow into anxiety and constant uneasiness. Sometimes your brain may continue an effect(anxiety) even when the cause - such as lateness, is taken away. You have to play it safe and desist from lateness today if you want to avoid any emotional dent or high blood pressure.

5. Lack of self-confidence.

This is one of the biggest evils of lateness. With a constant lateness habit, and the constant awkward feelings you get, you begin to feel a dip in your confidence due to a subconscious feeling of irresponsibility. Notice that the underlying feeling is subconscious. So, you may never know it until your lack of confidence begins to go out of hand. Most of the confidence issues we encounter today will mostly remain subconscious until the moment when we are noticeably embarrased or feel awkward. If you want to avoid that awkward feeling and embarrassment, then avoid that lateness.

Sometimes I begin to wonder why people even indulge in lateness at all. The general feeling and conditioning you have due to lateness is really appalling to me, not to talk of the lack of poise and disorganization that comes with it. Wouldn't you rather avoid all that by checking in earlier? Wouldn't you avoid the rush hour to remain cool, calm and collected? The difference is in finding time to be earlier each time.
