Why The Igbos Will Never Produce A President by evanscheck(m): 2:51am On Dec 05, 2014 |
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey, yesterday in Lagos, said an Igbo man cannot be President of Nigeria because of lack of unity in leadership roles. According to him, Igbo are hardworking, resilient and law abiding, but fall short of leadership role because of lack of recognition of leadership ethics and discipline. Enwo-Igariwey, who was the guest speaker at the public presentation of the Igbo centenary book, 100 Years of Amalgamation: Igbo, What Hope in Nigeria, by a Lagos-based journalist, Peter Anosike, said every Igbo wants to be leader at the same time. According to him “if we can solve this problem by trying to learn from our mistakes and believe that there can only be one leader at a time, then we can succeed as a people.” He said Igbo had huge investments all over the country and that with all the respect and recognition they had earned, they still lacked unity over leadership tussles, as could be seen even in town union meetings. He said: “It does not have to be the strongest or the richest. Anyone can be supported to succeed. If we unite, people will be afraid of us.” Chairman of the occasion, Chief Nwabueze Obi, Executi-ve Director, Cabotage, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, said: “We are nomadic. Over 90 percent of our investments are outside Igboland. “If you go anywhere and do not see an Igbo man, then it is not habitable. If we can channel these gifts to have a united front, we can succeed.” He appealed to all Igbo to be submissive to authority. |

we are better than those that are ruling.Having the lowest poverty level in the country is greater and better than being in leadership without having anything to show for it.It is just a matter of time before we complete the turnaround in our history.once we achieved the political emancipation, our fortunes in Nigeria would have been complete.Educationally, economically and technologically we are there. 11 Likes |

I said this same thing in another thread that it will be a very difficult thing for my fellow Igbo man to ever be president but not because of Igbo unity or lack of. The real reason why an Igbo man can never be president is because the the average northerner and Yoruba man will rather recieve a thousand lashes of 'koboko' than vote an Igbo man to be president even if this Igbo man was the Pope. The fear of what an Igbo man might do if he gets into power disturbs these people. The only reason a south-South man ever became president was the unfortunate death of a northern president. But not to worry, the office of the president of Nigeria has become a 'poisoned chalice' which the Igbos can do without. What the Igbos need isn't the office of the president. What we need is political unity. A president of Igbo extraction will not do Igbos any special favours but a United Igbo nation can become a force to be reckoned with in Africa 19 Likes |

truthfully, even if the Igbo were perfect in all things, they would never become president. You guys should blame Ojukwu, if not for the civil war things would have been different. 1 Like |

diluminati:ojukwu did what every right thinking leader would have done....yes he had his short coming as a human so did leaders of yoruba, hausa and edo ethinc stock......the civil war only showed the igbos the true colours of their "Brothers" in the south and their counterparts in the north.the igbos as we all know have produced people with impeccable character.I never knew there was a soludo somewhere,or Ngozi okonjo iweala.....our problem isn't lack of leaders because we have them in abundance, but the way we play our politics.after the civil war,the igbos kept to them selves believing that everyone was against them but steadily came back to prominence even in the face of harsh and volatile environment against any thing igbo but we over came that.....the issue now is how the politics is played....most igbos with credentials avoid politics like a plague because they believe its for thugs. But that notion is fading away.....its a matter of time before the gap that was created by our "brothers" is closed and we are back to our rightful place. 6 Likes |

We have had a Yoruba president in Obasunjo. What this do for Yorubas? Nothing! We have had a Hausa president in Yaradua. What did this do for Hausas? Nothing! We now have a south-South president in GEJ. What is this doing for the South-south? Not a bloody thing! So in 2015,2019 or 2023,if we have an Igbo president what will it do for the Igbo nation? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! This Igbo president of a thing is something that the northerners and the Yorubas want to use to pull the wool over the eyes of the Igbos. Igbo president is what they want to use to make us Igbo not see the bigger picture, that Igbo development and political cohesion and unity is far more important than any political position in Nigeria. So an Igbo man becomes president or not, will this stop the sun from shining tomorrow? I beg make I hear word jooo. Igbo bu Oke Mba!! Igbo esika!! 8 Likes |

When they are talking about this presidency of a thing, if you had not been to Abeokuta, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Kano, Kebbi, Minna, Borno, Bayelsa and see what is happening there, you will think being a Nigerian president is an auto ticket to better standard of living. Take a trip to Asaba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu, Aba and Umuahia; belive me if you didnt spit in the graves and faces of your so called presidents call me a bast@rd zendy: 1 Like |

This is just another lie that they keep telling Ndiigbo. If u tell a lie repeatedly for a long time without challenge with the facts, that lie becomes true. The truth is anybody can be President of Nigeria and in fact Nigeria has had a significant number of President from a minority background, how much more the tribe that produce the first President, Governor General and Head of State of Nigeria, a majority tribe like Ndiigbo. The fact that we are having this conversation and the north and southwest crying is indicative that Ndiigbo Presidency is around the corner. Let us just watch and see, how gej win 2015 and observe events in the run up to 2019. It will be easier for Nigeria to Break than a Northerner emerge President in 2015. 3 Likes 1 Share |

evanscheck: It's statements like the above that puts others off you ibos. There's nothing wrong in taking pride in your heritage but when its done by putting others' down then it becomes counterproductive. As for an ibo occupant in aso rock? Not a snowball chance in hell. who exactly will vote for an ibo president? Is it the northerners who still haven't forgiven the ibos for killing their "God" or the yorubas whom you ibos have gone out of your way to alienate. You all will do well to focus your energy in developing your region and turn it to the "dubia of africa", maybe then the rest of us can start believing some of your empty boasts. 4 Likes |

Dont worry about who n who will vote igbos but gradually your being pushed back to your mud houses of Ibadan and oshogbo respectively. The number of ghettos in lagos are in decline so are the number of Yoruba slumdwellers. Back home the Economy of East is our hands, overthere in Lagos we are pushing n shoving you for tiny plot of land called lagos untill you go back to your mud republics without toilets, T8ksy: 5 Likes |

Yoruba go and die becos, GEJ is handing over to a president of Igbo extraction in Nigeria. The OP is yoruba selling lies since 1960. Igbo are next in line for the Presidency. No igbo President, no hausa or yoruba president either. No Nigeria. |

Lagos is a no man's land a no man's shall it remain forever and ever....amen. Go back to your Abeokuta, Ibadam and Oshogbo slums. 8years of Obj didnt turn mud hosues in Abeokuta n Ibadan to concretes like Aba n Onitsha. 8years of Obj didnt stop lassa fever from ravaging South West and Oshogbo the home of islamic indoctrination and hardliners in Southwest. Behind Lagos which is a no man's land, Anambra is the next with highest concentration of commercial banks and business activities in Nigeria followed by Abia State respectively, 12yrs of Obj didnt turn things around for talakawas in Ekiti n Osun so that thugs n miscreants will stop decieving them with parboiled rice n odourless fufu to vote them. Ndigbo have not gotten the presidency but Igboland and by extension Igbos dont look like people that are politically n economically handicapped. Ndigbo need presidency but evenly distributed wealth is and should be paramount to Igbos, politicians loot for themselves n thier immediate families, evenly distrubuted wealths put foods and hope on the tables and horizon of those who lack political connections. With all the Northern presidency tell me a pure water that is made in North, with Ijawman as the president didnt we see where his kinsmen are scrambling for parboiled rice, with Obj presidency of 8yrs didnt we see where yorobawoman is fetching water from a bacteria infested ditch while tying PDP wrapper.....poverty is in Igboland but not to those your abysmall levels with your presidency thingy. Take it with tthis your presidency abeg before you said thry am becoming a nuisance here. T8ksy: 5 Likes |
