FolarinToks: Apparently, you are deliberately avoiding to counter the issues this guys have raised. The question wasn't whether his brothers n sisters are selling in those places, but they claimed that apart from lagos, no region or city in the south west can be compared to the south east. Hence, it would only be sensible if you could counter that argument head on and forget about attacking, abusing or avoiding the points rasied! 5 Likes |

He might be a political bigwig in the country but in his residence in Lagos, Mr. Jude Emeka Idimogu is a philan thropist with a distinction, a humble man to a fault. He has decided to contest for Lagos State Assem bly under the umbrella of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Oshodi- Isolo Constituency. He is from Imo State but has lived in Lagos for long, hence the decision for aspiring to be a legislator in the state. In this inter view, he speaks on various issues. Excerpts: What prompted your aspiration to run for Lagos State Assembly? I want to serve my community. They are in pain, all our representatives have failed to hear our cry. We are being deprived of a lot of things. It’s not the wherewithal but sometimes the will to do it; some of our representatives are so bad one can weep for us. But, by the special grace of God, if God gives me all the possibility to be there, I believe I will change lives positively for people. My lifestyle will make other politi cians, who have been there before to have a re-think to understand that being there is to serve humanity and to serve God. Don’t you think to serve your com munity, there is no much to do from Lagos House of Assembly? For now I want to take it from the grass roots; so I have decided to go for the Lagos House of Assembly from the grassroots; then from there, depending on how it goes, I will move forward. But for now, there is much to be done for this constituency, if you look at Oshodi/Isolo community, it will disgust you. Our roads are so bad that and is the major thing. The road is bad and the gridlock too much. The many hours we lose in traffic is so much and these are the things I wonder and I look at it and weep. When you ask the representatives about the road, they will tell you it is federal road and state road. What’s the meaning of that? We are the people that use it, not the Federal or state government. These roads are meant for me and the people of our community, so most times, no matter how good your car is and you are taking bad roads, there is no way your car will not have problem and at the end of the day, you will go and visit the mechanic. When you look at the cost you incur on the road and because of the problem, your car will develop inconvenience and a lot of time is wasted. All these will spur disgust for the area. Investors will avoid our area. Yet our cost of living is high like every Lagosian but not enjoying same benefits. It’s not good enough for me. If we are exactly patriotic, it is not necessary that you tar the road; you may not really have money but you can find granite and level the road pending the time help comes from the federal or state govern ment. As long as those in federal and state governments are also human beings, when they see that you have started to proffer a miniature solution to it, they will be urged to come with standard solution. They will feel ashamed that the people or community are challenging them. Before you know it, the help will come sooner than later. Why do you think your representa tives have not tried to help the com munity? Our representative is a-one man army. They think they can do it alone. They have forgotten that lobbying is politics. When you are in politics, you lobby because it is not you alone in the State House of Assem bly. You are to be closer to other members and when you have your problem, you table it and lobby every member, including the speaker that your own needs are more important than others. They will allow you to have your way, depending on how you relate with others there. Everything is about relationship and lobbying and before you know it, you will gain more stability and what you want for your community and that is your bottom line. There is a popular belief that Nigerian politics is about money and godfatherism. How do you see it? For now, money partially runs politics in Nigeria. For me, my godfather is God. You must also have people that have been there before you, even in terms of money. They can encourage you, advise you and also help to give you a soft landing and to direct you. In everything, even in the world of politics, we have people that you naturally want them to direct you. You may call them god fathers but in Nigeria, the godfathers that are being talked about are your financiers. If it is a godfather who finances me, I don’t have one. From experience, godfathers are people who will direct you the right way to follow, guide you towards success. Politics is an ideology that needs guidance. So, there is need for an advisor, not a financier. You know you can’t do it alone, you need elders around you; elders that will speak on your behalf to their associates and acquaintances. Such elders you come across by doing good and being hardworking. When they have seen your quality and your determination to really serve for the benefits of the people, you will definitely have it. Why did you decide to run under the PDP umbrella? For today, I represent PDP and the reasons are that PDP controls the centre and because All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed my constituency. The only way for me to make impact is from the opposition. I believe that PDP will make an impact in Lagos State in 2015. Among the people the APC has failed are the Igbo. The Igbo have been suffering under APC. They have been molested. In the history of the world, it was in Nigeria that a governor of a state decided to deport indigenes of another state. Do you think you as an Igbo man will get your party’s mandate to con test in the main election? I don’t have a doubt. The problem we have in Nigerian politics is empty promises but I am happy after all that things are gradu ally changing; people are asking questions. I don’t need to be boastful, people have started asking questions; who is that person, what is he made of? For us to move forward, if I get my party’s mandate, I will make it. I am not saying I will make it alone; a tree cannot make a forest. Most people say I am not part of them, yet, I am married to a beautiful wife from Yoruba land. What more do they need? I am the only son of my parents; despite that, I was allowed to marry my heartthrob be cause I love her even though I had ambition to do politics in my hometown but suddenly my mind changed. I felt a stint in Lagos; I have lived in Lagos for the past 30 years and besides, we are all Nigerians and not only that, my wife is a daughter of the tribe. We need to forget tribal boundaries to move this country forward. |

if that man is given a chance to rule lagos,he will transform lagos .. He is not from there but he will work massively in developing lagos state than the one selected frm indigene.. I remember wen cummassie frm north was given a chance to work for imo state during military regime. The man did a deligent work in imo state and refuse to go back bc the pple was so accomodative.. Anyway they shuld give him a chance and see the differences Frm indigene and residential indigene.. |

joeboy03: Our father says that; A chick that ll grow into a cock can be spotted the very day it hatches meaning that i ve already foresee where the so called baseless assertion would end if i start countering that baseless and unfounded assertion. It was a mere assertion which i don't see any reason why any sane person should take it serious but i have decided to take it upon myself to bisect and dissect this baseless assertion right here bro. There is no statistics in place to prove that baseless assertion of bigoted Ibos but one natural and undeniable fact that tells/shows that a particular place-Odua Nation/Arewa nation is economically better and well developed than his eroded Alaigbo is the migration of inhabitants of the latter-Alaigbo to the former-Odua/Arewa Nations. Humans naturally move to where their lives could be better not d opposite; this very opposite is what Alaigbo has been able to offer these poor Ibos over the years and that is why they always refused to come back home even when they r being slaughtered like a goat in d North. Finally, what makes lives better if not basic social infrastructures(not 100% available in south west but atleast better than eroded environment where erosion could suddently carry your house and your children into the sea but luckily for him and his likes, there is nothing like sea around Alaigbo), economic vibrancy, peaceful environment etc.............. And all these aforementioned factors could only be found in the west and probably in the North(Boko haram bring about that probability). 2 Likes |

OneNaira6: Stop deceiving yourself, Ibos have been part of all the Hausa-led governments in Nigeria and they ruined the country together, check 1st and 2nd republic. In 1999 we had the chance to make a clean break and elect a technocrat, but Ibos and south-south joined Hausa and IBB to impose Obasanjo on the country after he was rejected by Yorubas. Once again Ibos joined others to impose a failure on Nigeria. After all shenanigans and Jonathan emerged, many thought he will be different and supported him for a full term but he eventually turned out not be humble but actually dull. Guess what, rather than join others to say the truth and shame the devil, Ibos have turned out to be the greatest supporters of the failure and rotten government even more vociferous than Ijaws the presidents tribe. And you have the nerve to say Yorubas joined you to ruin the country, you can't be serious. Yorubas are only trying to get a non-toxic Northerner to rule and satisfy the longing in the region while we prepare a good candidate like Pat Utomi or Fashola to take over afterwards. |

FolarinToks: Until that piece of sh1t nation divides we will confine to frustrate and take all Odua monkies have and keep you a poverty striken community. So far the deed is going mighty well. Cry some more slave. We are not done, hold on to your walls cause we'll contine to make you and your illiterate, sorry excuse, pathetic, primitive, savage tribe lives a living hell till una slit your throst and do the world a favour by erasing every trace of your illiteracy and backwardness. You wanted one Nigeria will contine making you bash your head on the wall for that one nigeria. Enjoy it
Under Ironsi rule did Nigeria move backwards to a mess of a nation itself today. Having leaders in regional aspect whom had no significant hands in the federal government pray tell in your ignorant mind how they contributed to the destruction of the nation in federal government. Under whose leadership did naira drop? Under whose leadership did every sectors of the federal government drop? Under whose leadership did Nigeria go from one of the fastest developing african nation (during Nnamdi Azikiwe rule) to becoming THE MOST corrupt African nation in the world and held the title until OBJ rule. Under whose leadership did most companies in Nigeria liquidated? Under whose leadership did Nigeria become one of the highly indebted African nation in the world with absolutely NOTHING to show for it. Under whose leadership did living standard of the common man decrease? Under whose leadership did the gap of poverty ridden and rich in nation become a widely gap. Incase you weren't aware Nigeria became the he11 hole it is prior to Obasanjo and GEJ. Nigerian economy deteriorated during the Era YORUBA and their Northern masters held the the federal government sectors. Infact it was during the Era of OBJ Nigeria comatose stand started to move albeit slowly thanks to the Igbo under his administration. Under his rule, Nigerian corruption improved and finally got of the title it held for years. During the OBJ rule, an aspect of Nigeria debt erased thanks to an Igbo woman. Ironically enough, those debts shouldn't have been collected in the first place and even so, nigeria yearly GDP showed the nation was more than sufficient enough to pay it off years ago. Under GEJ many of ssh1t yoruba and their master's left in shambles are being rebuilt and brought back to life. Infact I quadruple dare you to list development made prior to OBJ and GEJ rule. And I dare you go compare and contrast Nigerian development prior to Yoruba and North taken over the nation. Let's compare and contrast and actually see if GEJ and his cabinet ruling is an incompetent as yoruba try to pass off as. Under GEJ ruling the nation economy is made a high improvement till the point it surpassed South Africa while under the ruling where Yoruba held the shot Nigeria economy deteriorated. Maybe you forgot the Era where Nigeria took a huge dive downwards. Let me give you a hint, it started prior to GEJ and OBJ ruling Finally don't make me laugh in comparing SE and SW. Despite SE cities destroyed during the war, SE is more developed than SW. The only decent part in the entire SW is literally lagos hence your people desperation to pass that area as the entire SW. Funny thing, if not for FG and whites involvement in Lagos, that city would have been the disgusting hellhole the entire remaining SW states are. You people should be ashamed of yourself that despite no tribal or political unrest, SW still remain as backwards and poverty ridden as it is today. It actually shows why under your people assistance in ruling, the nation deteriorated. If you can't even move yourselves forward as a region, how do you think you have the capability to move the nation forward. Finally while I'm at it, Orlandowoh next time you want to address me with that your illiterate mouth. DO NOT BE A COWARD and do so using your REAL ID. You worthless piece of sh1t that's better of dead than alive. |

[quote author=meccuno post=28674384] So Ibeto was crippled for Dangote? Hmmmmm welcome to the world of business. So when Mike Adenuga's CIL was refused the gsm license while MTN and airtel were granted the same license it was because Mike Adenuga was an Ibo man? The same Adenuga came back with glo and had to pay 3 times what MTN and airtel before he was granted the license. Infact that same Obasanjo threatened to bring down Adenuga towards the end of the 2nd term, Adenuga had to run to Ghana to survive. My dear rugged business men survive, they show resilience and determination, they dont go whining about how Yorubas have refused to let them grow. The same Yorubas that have been coexisting alongsides igbos every where without as much as lifting a finger against them. The same Yoruba Obasanjo during his tenure had all the sensitive areas of the economy handled by the igbos, but because of Ibeto all yorubas have suddenly turned to witches and wizards haunting every sucesssful igbo. Guy just look into the mirror and see bigotry personified. |

Also, who is this non-toxic Northerner you are talking about because last i checked the northerner SW is trying to impose as president is Buhari. Last I checked he is far from "non-toxic". An islamist with no remorse when his supporters go on a killing spree when he loses is toxic in my book. Using religion or attempting to promote tribalism will not work, Nigerians are smarter and stronger today than yesterday... It is the culture of a certain group in Nigeria to show up at the village, at all cost, with Range Rovers for Christmas. It doesn't matter where the big cars and money come from, as long as the goal is accomplished everybody is happy. This is the same mentality that is being exhibited at Aso Rock today, and the main reason why folks from this area see nothing wrong with this featherbrained president. They will sell their mother at any time, any day for a buck....EVERYBODY MUST DRIVE RANGE ROVER. So, expect nothing until Nigerians get the opportunity to elect a real leader, from a disciplined background and not just another money hungry, shoe-less, clueless person. |

[quote author=meccuno post=28677749]so the misuse of power by obasanjo to favour someone who is a sponsors of pdp is called business? Do you remember the Abacha years? How Many Yoruba businesses and business men were brought down? How they were hounded? Even the Yoruba millitary officers were not spared. The Yoruba people suffered greatly, it was indeed the year of locusts. You know what we could also have looked at the Nzeribes, the Chukwumerijes, the Daniel Kanus, the Frank Omenkas etc and declare all igbos our enemies and give excuses for our failures and woes, infact Abacha moved all the federal agencies to Abuja in one fell sweep ostensibly to cripple the yorubas. But you know what? We used to sing a song that you can take everything you want from Lagos but you cant relocate our Lagoon and sea. The yorubas stood firm and they triumphed over the evil general, they do not hold unnecceasary grudges, thats the spirit. Our parents taught us not to be giving excuses, nobody can hold you down if you are determined, for God's sake Germany lost the 2nd world war, as we speak today Americans have been trying hard to hold down the germans, my brother germany has moved on. NO EXCUSE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR FAILURE, LEARN TO DUST YOUR PANTS AND MOVE ON. The yorubas hold no grudge agains the ibos, i have several occasions in this lagos when yorubas have sided with ibos whom they feel are about to be cheated. meccuno: What exactly did the federal govenment do in the west thats not in the east? The port has always been in lagos from pre colonial times. Is it bridges? Airports? Roads? I really want to know exactly what the federal government did in the southwest that is absent in the east or any where else. For the sake of christ lagos has ceased being the fedral capital since 1991. The Europeans in their wisdom decided to make Lagos their abode and since then the city has been prominent. So how is that the fault of the Yorubas. Do you know how much has been sunk into Abuja and yet that place is as desolate as graveyard nobody is going there. |

huptin:when I say federal presence,it starts with the british presence. You and I know that the british lay much emphasis and premium on locations that are very close to the sea, hence the strategic location and economic importance of lagos to the atlantic...[but there are states close to the sea to e.g rivers and akwa ibom] ...hence the massive development of areas like victoria island, marina, ikoyi and various G.R.As in lagos.......after independence came oil boom, massive construction of bridges...and because of the importance of lagos being the federal capital, head offices like oil companies opened up in lagos.....the sea port was restructued and an international airport was built......remember that lagos has more than 4 or five military base....and so on.....u have the National theatre,Festac 77 structures, national stadium, housing estates....and all these where built and funds released because of its status as FCT.....all these do not exist in the SE....whatever u see was done through communal. Effort and hardwork......even Ogun state benefited from its proximity to lagos.......abuja as FCT has been transformed from a bush to the best state infrastructure wise in Nigeria.....imagine what anambra state would have been if made FCT for just 10 years?
