My bosom friend is about closing a deal on an Hyundai SuV(Santa Fe) with about 235,500 miles in the odometer is it wÓrth buying considering the fact that the engine capacity might have been weakened with such a long distance already covered by the car |

youngalex: Depends on the price of the car/engine. But 235,500 miles nigerian standard is a lot of miles. Original owner has already used up more than the half life of the engine. If a replacement engine is cheap, go for it. If not its not worth it. How much is the vehicle? How much is the engine? |

I will personally pass. Two things, first it's an Hyundai and especially a bottom line in the range and second, it's not an iconic specimen. |

A used Korean car with almost 250k miles for N1.25m? Doesn't sound reasonable to me. Is the price quoted (N300k) for a brand new engine or Tokunbo? |

The price is for a tokunbo engine,thanks all,from the responses so far I don't think is worth the buy,I will advise him to reconsider his stand |

The guy that picked me up when i just arrived to lagos, came with this 2012 corrolla, peeped at the mileage i saw it running over 200k and was like is this real? car looks very sharp, not like something used as Taxi. |

What model year is the Santa Fe? Has it just been shipped in or used in Nigeria? A 200k mile vehicle can have an engine in better condition that a 50k mile one. You can rack up 200k miles in 2 years in some US states. 1 Like |
